There is a Poll Thread on the Ideas Corner forum gathering opinions on a modeling career.
I am all for it, but I realized my current sims will be dead and buried by the time we get it, if we get it at all.
So I am making my own!
There is one on modthesims, but it's broken and unsupported. I'd rather make my own anyway. I need to learn how to make my own content.
This isn't as easy as I thought it would be.
A big problem is nearly every tutorial I've found is on the old version of ModConstructor, so I have to try to figure out how the old way is done in the new way. I realized quickly that I had better not try to build the entire career before I test it. So I grabbed two sims for a test run.
I am only testing the first five career levels, so these two won't experience the branching paths yet.
I was actually surprised that it started working on the first try.
It's very simple at this stage and it will need some extra features to make it feel like I actually have two models here.
Right now it's just telling me they are models, not showing me.
So while testing, I am having them do things I feel a model might want to do with what they have available in The Sims 4.
I've been playing mostly on speed 3, to get through the career levels fast, but I do slow down to go to the spa, karaoke bars, lounges, and dance clubs. What I've learned from this will go into daily tasks, and probably a custom trait and whims.
My models don't like fixing things, so they are calling the landlord a lot.
The big test was getting their career reward objects.
I need to know the numbers that identify the objects I want them to have, and it's not that obvious how to get the ID number, nor which number to use. I was happy to see that they work.
This is an important reward object and they get it before the career branches to Commercial Model or Fashion Model.
And with this, my phase one test is complete. I only had a couple of minor issues that are easily fixed.
My models had skills before getting this career, but despite this, I feel this first half was a little easy.
I will bump everything up by 1 skill level. Adding daily tasks should add a little challenge as well.
I want them primping, planning outfits, and changing clothes a lot. A simmer will be very familiar with CAS when they are done with this career.
I wish I could see them on buildings and billboards, but that is way beyond my ability.
I would need a GP or EP for that.
And here is, Bastet.
Long ago, I created my first and only custom trait. Now that I am thinking of creating traits again, I will experiment with her.
I had created the Neko trait back then.
She never got embarrassed, loved fishing, was a little more mischievous and some other things that I never saw much evidence for being.
But it made a difference as I felt she was a little more unique, compared to other sims. I once did a test where I had her become amorous with sims that had no interests. Being rejected didn't bother her a bit.
There is so much more in this game now and I would like to make use of them in a new Neko trait.
Behind her is catnip. It would be cool if she got wishes to plant and harvest it. And it would be cooler if having certain ones in her inventory effected her somehow. She can't eat them, but having them should do something. I also want to take that Cat Hiss and Growl from the Erratic trait. It would be awesome if she could destroy furniture like a werewolf. I want to make a Crazy Cat moodlet.
Now I am on to Phase II:
-Boost Promotion Requirement skills +1
-Add Daily Tasks
-Add Career Uniforms
-Add Career Emotional States
-Add Work at Home Tasks.
Phase III will be adding the branching paths with everything above, and there will be a phase IV to add more immersive things to the career.
I might be in over my head, but I will give it a try.
This is a big deal for me.
Like Toddlers big, or Seasons, or University big.
My who prep-school project needs this, so yeah, I am excited.
I am sad that so many of my favorite sims missed it, but I do have 12 more sims to go before I can start putting the final polish on my master save file.
There is so much I need to know about this pack.
It may change how my prep-school is set up or where it is located.
I have a lot of things to catchup on. Where my sims are. How this custom Model career is going future plans, ect.
Again, I am way behind on documenting my simming.
But I am prepared for the next pack. These are the last of my Toddlers that began this thread and they are all set for High School Years.
I added Orlando Purdue.
He was the sim I used to explore the Photographer's career in another save.
I intended that career for Monique, but she will be pursuing a career in music.
Hi CK, all your kids look great...and I recognize most of them, lol.
I still say you are to be commended on the groups, or herds of sims you deal with. Me, if I have more than 4 sims in a house, I start to sweat, lol.
I'll be looking forward when you start your updating process! Good luck!
Thanks.
High School Years should bring some normal game play. I will be playing the teens that are still at home first.
I will switch over the the prep-school dorm later.
Over half my sims have made it through Smuggsworth Prep.
It's time to catch up.
I have to start thinking about Ambrosius' and Janay's eventual retirement. They aren't getting any younger and I think I would like for them to get married and have a child or two. They have been romantically involved since being Students at Foxbury.
Nami, Cedric, and Gamma have reached their skill level goals for their associated University Degrees, as well as their research and debate skill levels. It's time to age up to young adults.
She looks the same.
They are definitely taller.
Nami could use a new look.
And now to send out those scholarship applications.
They will be attending Foxbury.
And of course the traditional Foxbury shopping spree.
Fitness outfits are essential.
Cedric looks like he is going to be a weight gain magnet.
A notice for GeekCon popped up while they were shopping.
These brainiacs are not going to miss it.
They won a new computer in the hacking competition.
All good fun while we wait for their scholarship applications to be processed.
But I remember something else I needed to do.
Nami's parents needed to age up.
I have come to be quite fond of all my sim's parents.
I wish I could have played them more in-depth.
Yua is looking matronly.
And now Ren.
I really don't like seeing my sims get old.
Back at Smuggsworth, the scholorship letters have arrived.
University acceptance letters arrived the next day.
And now I finally get to play their Foxbury custom dorm.
Brindleton Bay is an odd choice for a Foxbury dorm, but I don't have many options when to comes to the placement of large lots.
Of course Olivia Banks will be forever furious that Brindleton Bay Blue was bulldozed to build this dorm here.
It's the weekend but my Uni students always hit the ground running:
Homework, term papers, presentation boards.
While they are busy with homework, the dormies have taken it upon themselves to start building the rocket.
I wanted my sims to build it, but oh well.
They can still perform the upgrades on it.
Apparently this is very dirty work.
Juanita Saunders is one of my dormie makeovers.
Send her to the shower.
After a couple of days, I noticed that the solar panels were really dirty.
The wind turbines were broken too, because of lighting strikes.
I had Gamma go out on the roof and take care of it all.
After her morning chores, she went down to breakfast. I could see she was going after a black and white cookiei instead of something more nutritious. I cancel that and order her to take a Monte Cristo sandwich, she did, AND the cookie as well.
She then repeatedly gets in and out of her chair trying to eat that cookie.
I am being completely ignored here.
FINE!
Have your cookie.
She's looking mighty cheeky, like she knows she got away with something.
We are being visited by Meadow Thayer.
It's always nice to see an old friend. meadow and Gamma grew up in the orphanage together.
And she bought a gift!
Juanita reminds me of Shanice Purcell, one of my spellcasters.
Same hair and body type, but I am adding her to the neighborhood with her own house once this group of sims graduates.
Trying to keep the weight down, Nami often goes out for jogs.
Hold on, that's your mom.
I need to go back and plan her mom's outfits.
She's dressed as young as her daughter.
I kind of regret putting this dorm in Brindleton bay.
It rains all the time and and usually strong storms.
Everyone is running around in a panic.
"Calm down."
"Everything is going to be okay."
And then there is Vlad.
I bet he just loves this weather.
And he has no intention of leaving.
I can't get rid of him.
Well a little visit to buy debug should change the situation.
What's wrong?
You have a problem with a little garlic?
Bye bye, Vlad.
Anyway, this storm really needs to go.
Problem solved.
And that's pretty much for the interesting things that happened during their two terms at Foxbury.
The rest was academics. It's time to rotate back to Smuggsworth.
Yikes! I do not let any of my sims loose during a thunderstorm, unless I save first, lol.
That sim was her mother? Wow, looked more like her sister. I always thought it was sad to see Cassandra running around Sim world with those stupid pigtails...as an adult, not such a good look.
Your update is great! About the weather, maybe Foxbury could spring for a weather machine. It isn't as detailed as say, MCC but it will stop the rain. With MCC you can have any weather you want your sims to have, and for how long. Great little tool to have.
I'll be looking forward for the next update.
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.

I will probably go fully modded after I put everyone through Uni.
I remember being able to shift/click on the ground to stop the rain. Maybe that was the UI cheats mod.

With UI Cheats, you can shift click on the weather UI to change it to sunny etc., but iirc you can't specify for how long. With MCCC, there's a cheats menu by clicking on the mail box, where you can change the season or pick any weather you want, out of umpteen options, and specify how long you want it to last. Both are super useful!
I need to prepare the way for the next three sims coming to Smuggsworth Prep.
I have already aged up Monique Brown.
Next is Riya Ramaswami, daughter of Priya and Sanjay Ramaswami.
I am not even sure if Riya even needs to go to Uni.
She will be an herbalist, but she is also making potions and inheriting her mother's shop. I guess her parents still want her educated.
I need to decide if she will be a spellcaster, like her mother.
If not, she may find running the potions and herbals shop more difficult.
And in her parallel reality, she was best friends with Gamma, the alien. Gamma used her science skills to create a cloning machine.
This allowed Riya to clone insects for her ingredients, instead of roaming the forests of Granite Falls.
I could make her a Paranormal Investigator too, that would be something different for this time around.
I have played Vaughn in an alternative same and pretty much know what he is going to do with his life.
Why is Yuki here?
I believe she is a celebrity now, from all the paintings she has sold to collectors.
I will try to keep her a minor celebrity.
I don't believe she would want a lot of notoriety.
I need to spend some time with the Noble household.
Vaughn needs to get his grades up and the family could do with some money to buy more items for their home.
It's great that the beach is within walking distance.
I can establish Vaughn's love for the ocean and beaches.
He is going to be a writer that loves to visit Sulani for inspiration.
After a bit of regular play, it was time to age him up.
High School Years, here we come.
Sheldon Dortz will be in the group following Monique, Riya, and Vaughn.
But he is still a toddler and I really need to catch him up.
Sophia, Kara, and Edgar are among the half of my sims that will never see the High School Years expansion pack.
Bummer that, I really would have loved to play all of them through HSY.
At this point with my sims, I was wondering why I never had anyone do their school projects.
These three are about ready to graduate high school, so I figured now or never.
A water propulsion rocket.
I believe they can actually play with this.
I am putting it in the trophy case for now.
I hardly use this thing, so something should be put in here, even a science project.
And it's off to high school for them, one last time.
High school,
age up,
university.
High school,
age up,
university.
This is getting repetitive, but I am still enjoying it.
Kara was supposed to be a supermodel before my Toddlers Reboot of my sims.
We never got a modeling career, and I switched her to being an actress.
Now that I have created a modeling career, I think I will have her try modeling first, before switching to acting.
And Sophia remaining short was not a fluke in an alternative save.
She remains short here too. Which I don't mind, she's so cute as a shorty.
I seem to have neglected Sophia's education while playing her through high school.
She doesn't have the requirements for a distinguished Drama Degree at Britechester.
I tried upping her charisma and comedy skills, but it seems like it's going to take much higher skills to get in.
I am not separating her from Kara to send her to Foxbury.
They are in this together. So she will go for a Psychology degree and get acting skills as an elective, or in her free time.
Seeing as they are all young adults now, they should celebrate at an adult club.
Which isn't much of a point since I never sent them to my teen club because it's usually full of young adults anyway.
She looks particularly tiny in this shot.
I sent them over for drinks and they started tossing the drinks away.
You'd better hold off those, Sophia.
Those are pet drinks.
Why on earth are there drinks for pets, and why are they being sold at a human bar in a dance club?
Never again. They got some negative moodlets for that slip up.
Anyway, on with their rite of passage to University.
Whatever you need, get it here.
Prepare yourselves for a lot of reading and writing.
Them, not you.
But then again, I do have a lot of posts to get out before High School Years hits.
Great update! That is some nice height mod you have. I'm trying to curb my mod addiction, otherwise I would ask you who made it, lol.
Actually I am terrified to see what happens when we get HSY.
All those new teen animations, I hope it doesn't break the mod, or create really bad glitches that will make me take out the mod.
I took a quick peak at some of my teens and they are still shorties. I am not spending much time with them because it seems the aging bug is back. I've had that before where they age whenever you go into CAS.
I'm amazed that they didn't patch that out because they've known about it from the YouTubers and it's an old bug they have fixed before.
You would think they would have all that documented and have a quick fix procedure ready to go.
Hopefully if the patch does break the mod, the creator will update quickly. I've been pretty lucky so far due to my totally revamping the mods folder which I pared down to 500 mb...the only mods and cc I could not live without so patching isn't quite the trauma it has been in the past, lol.
Good luck with your most excellent height mod!
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.

It seems alright.
I have been hesitant to post anything because I am playing a copy of my main save using the Bjergsens as a test family before I use the pack on my main sims.
I sent my emancipated teen to high school and I must say, they have done a stellar job...so cute and everyone performed as they should. I have just started getting into this pack but I can see, they have an overwhelming factor in that there is so much for the teen to do. I haven't even sent him to the amusement park yet. Very excited for the gameplay in this pack and I love the b/b, not so much the cas, lol.
Good luck, and always, happy simming!
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.
I think I will be coming back to my main sims soon.
After a play-test with test sims first.
My game is starting to feel absolutely ancient.
This thread started 5 years ago with them being toddlers and only the first three have graduated from Uni.
I haven't even played my sims with the High School Years pack because the Wants and Fears system put me off the idea.
Hey CK! I really hate saying this, but after 22 years of sims, gameplay, bug, glitches and tearing my hair out, I have found a new game. I cannot generate enough interest to even open the game. A couple of times, I opened the sims, then immediately closed it. It is, for me, the same tired aspirations, traits, yada, yada. My sister and I have talked about it and it seems I cannot continue. I am playing a MMO, Shop Titans on Steam. Its an RPG based game that you are the shopkeeper of a medival town with champions and heroes. I am having a blast, playing like I used to play the sims years ago. I hate to leave behind a game that I am that vested in but I can't play without interest.
It has been a pleasure conversing with you over the years, and I can only wish the best for you and the whole simming community. You guys are the best when it comes to someone needing help with their game. Oddly enough, everyone in our guild are old sims players, lol. We are a family.
Happy Simming CK!

I went over to YouTube and watched a guy get addicted to Shop Titans.
It's funny that I haven't even played our last expansion pack past testing it on some test sims.
Wants and Fears and a few other features not working correctly made me not want to play.
Now Growing Together is coming and I think it will be perfect for my sims. IF EVERYTHING WORKS! I hope I am not setting the game aside yet again because a new system is too buggy to be bothered with.
If you ever want to join in the fun, the guild's name is Let's Talk Shop. Almost everyone in there are former sims players and some play both. I am not ditching Sims for this game, but I think after 22 years, a break was needed.
I am hoping for all who are excited about this ep, that the bugs are few and the gameplay is awesome! My sister is getting the ep, so I'll be able to see what the pack is about.

Parodox Interactive/Tectonic and Rod Humble look like they are making an interesting Sims game with Life By You.
I will be giving it an early access go in September. The complete game should launch a year later.
If I were EA, I would be hell bent on fixing all game play that simmers have turned off, or fixed or removed with mods.
If they don't, they just might find a lot of simmers jumping to Life By You, Paralives, or Alterlife.
For now I will be repairing this thread. Most of my earlier pictures are not showing up because of html coding changes. Also all those early images had been posted with a lower quality resolution. I will up load higher quality images at about a page a day hopefully. I have growing together and experimented with it and it seems like a nice addition, but this game play should have been in the base game from the beginning.
I need some feedback.
Can you see any of my images from the first couple of pages (1-3)?
None of them were showing up for me, but when I minimize my browser page they show up and then show up when I maximize the window.
I updated the first two posts, but the rest further down page 1 have not been updated.

Thank you, this helps keep me going.
I have a learning curve, but I think it's starting to shape up.
That's actually Kara. EMA stands for Elite Modeling Agency.

Your update is great! About the weather, maybe Foxbury could spring for a weather machine. It isn't as detailed as say, MCC but it will stop the rain. With MCC you can have any weather you want your sims to have, and for how long. Great little tool to have.
I'll be looking forward for the next update.
A child will do for now, but I will be back.
Good luck with your most excellent height mod!
