In my TS2 days, getting a cell phone was a rite of passage for my Teen sims.
I would have them go out shopping for new clothes to replace the horrible outfits given to them at their birthday celebration.
They would also buy a phone from the phone machine and then go hang out at my teen lot to socialize with the other teens.
I had a visitor mod to create the hangout.
I wish phones were bought instead of given to them.
