I'm working on a Windows script that will automatically:
1. Zip your Saves folder
2. Rename the zip folder to SimSaves_112217_12390185.zip (unique date/time stamp filename)
3. (Automatically) Upload it to your Google Drive (a folder of your choice too)
4. Launches The Sims 4 (this can be enabled/disabled, it will prompt you - "Want to start Sims 4?", in case you just want to back up your save games AFTER playing.
Everything is working now, I just need to setup the automatic zip part, doable, just need to make sure it assumes the specific date stamp file name per instance.
You need to specify, in this file, the following things:
- Your path to your save files, such as C:\Users\user\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\
- Your sub-folder on your google drive, it might be something like 1Nj-Emy53owzQ8xVIU7Fle7oAhQXcsg11 (I'll explain this more in the final.)
You will be required to enter these items and then run it and viola, all your Sim backups will be saved on your PC, and uploaded to your Google Drive.
Interested in using this, let me know and I'll reply with instructions. DON'T reply back with anything required, its for you to enter in your file on your computer after I provide instructions if someone wants it.
I had the same problem. I didn't realize that the game saved to my OneDrive. I was in the process of transferring all the files on it to my computer when I read the helpful link posted above. I stopped the transfer and put everything back the way it was. Easy Peasy. This was so helpful! Thank you.
