Graphics suddenly really bright and washed out?! (Solved)

Help! I don't know what happened, other than a recent graphic driver update, but suddenly TS3 looks terrible!



I've tried rolling back to my previous driver, repairing the game through origin (not sure if that works with TS3?), pulling all of my mods and clearing caches...but nothing changes. The only other thing I did was tweak some lighting files for one of the worlds but I've done that a couple of times now so I don't think that was it. I hope I don't have to reinstall everything or something worse, if anyone can help please...I'm missing my sims!

Try doing a clean install of the video driver. Maybe it went in wrong. This is instructions for Nvidia

Download whatever driver you want and save the file. It will give you a list of back drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

disconnect your computer from the internet.

uninstall the driver manually http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_13955.html

install the new driver you downloaded and saved then reconnect your computer to the internet.

If you have AMD ask @chelljo or @igazor

These are pretty basic, but if you haven't already you first might want to check your graphics settings in Game Options and the method you are using to cap this card's frame rate. Graphics drivers upgrades and rollbacks tend to reset all of those things without any kind of warning. And again, sorry this is so basic, but I take it that merely turning the monitor's brightness down doesn't help?

@Jskeletonkey I really don’t remember as this was a while ago but I think I moved out all my mods and everything and reset the sims 3 folder. I also have a lighting mod that only works if you delete certain files in worlds that already have lighting, so if you have a lighting mod that does this, make sure you delete the files for the default lighting as well.

@jackjack_k Haha yeah, it kinda looks like a weird lighting mod.
