Ingredients for blackberry pie? (Answered - it's a bug)

GreenCatsGreenCats Posts: 9,318 Member
Sorry, another random question from me.

My sim has eggs and blackberries in his inventory, but the baker's station wants to charge him 12 simoleons to make blackberry pie, which is the same amount as when he has no blackberries in his inventory (when he has no eggs it's 23).

Are there no blackberries in blackberry pie? :s

Is this a bug? All the other fruit pies require one egg plus the named fruit (except cherry pie, which I think is just an egg).

It's trivial, I know, but I just want to be sure, because I won't bother growing blackberries if they don't go in the pie.

As I understand it, you just have to own the set with the harvestables in order to have those options show up, but they do not need to be in your inventory and apparently they made no arrangements to account for times when they were in your sim's inventory.

So the short answer is no, your sim does not need to harvest the fruits from the Bohemian set in order to bake things with those ingredients, but even when they do have them they are not deducted from the cost. This was either an over-sight or they just didn't take the time to add this feature in, I guess. Not sure why since it's part of the regular cooking to account for ingredients.

I've been using this mod to cook with any ingredient, which does include these harvestables when calculating cost (or allow you to substitute something else) http://modthesims.info/d/523004. But it can get a bit tedious if there are lots of ingredients in your sim's fridge or inventory because it brings up a whole list of them for you to choose from, so I don't know if that's an option for you.

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?!

This is a bug, one of the recipes is flawed. Without a mod to adjust ingredients by way of substitutions, I believe that the built-in recipe for blackberry pie actually calls for blueberries, or something like that.

Thank you @HappySimmer3 . That's very interesting. For me it seems just to be the blackberry pie recipe. The others I've tested (admittedly not all of them), all seem to use the named ingredients. Thanks also for the link to that mod. I'd seen it before but I'd totally forgotten about it. I'll have a think about whether I want to incorporate it :)

Many thanks @igazor - it's good to know for sure.

Then I learned something new! I know back when it came out people were asking about this issue but I didn't remember it being just the blackberries. Too bad someone can't fix it. Makes me wish I weren't quite so hopeless at modding! :)

Can't say for 100%, but apples, plums, and raspberries are definitely fine. So weird.
