Windenburg hates me.

I'm going to re-name it Crashy McCrasherson!

Seriously, I crash in Windenburg all the time. Every session.
I don't crash in any other world.

No CC, no mods, straight up EA. And I usually crash during building. It's frustrating. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Kinda sorry I paid for that expansion.

Try a Game Repair in Origin. Build mode crashes are usually mod/CC, so I'd suspect that in this case, it's something in the installation. Also, though, does it do this in a fresh save?

    Hello
Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" or " options " file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder.

Sometimes having a large amount of items in the sims inventories and household inventory can cause issues. Try removing some of the items from the inventories and see if that helps.

Try turning off origin in-game and see if that helps. To do that, go,to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture. Click on “Game Properties”. Then untick the box that enables origin in-game

Alright, so I did a repair before posting (it's just a general trouble shooting tool) but never thought to remove the entire sims folder.

So far I am not crashing in build mode with no sims moved into a lot. But when I exit/save, it crashes. When I build with a sim moved in, it crashes. So far no one has a big inventory - I haven't gotten that far.

I'll try removing the sims folder and go through those steps. Thank you!

I hope that doing it helps :) Test also by starting a new save game file and see if the issues are also occurring in that new save game when in Windenburg .

Windenburg has bigger areas? Perhaps it's maxing Ram?

    Definitely an older PC.
I was home sick yesterday so I just played all day. I finally crashed after around 7 hours on-and-off play/build time. It was a RAM issue. A reboot solved that.

The original issue might be an old save. Maybe there's a buggy family. I'm willing to sacrifice everyone at this point.

I'll have to limp along for now - no simoleans to rebuild my computer - can't motherlode IRL.

(simoleans totally needs to be on standard keyboards)

    Thanks y'all! :)

i use my nan's computer (she has little to no use for it now) and it is over 5 years old windows 7 computer not made for gaming, it the world works great on my PC, it could be you are using to much memory or having the game on to high of a setting (my game will crash if i have the graphics set on the highest setting) p.s: i hope you get better!

Thank you rosemow! I got better then got sick again. I think my sims cast a spell on me so that I'd play with them more.

So, Windenburg crashes more than anything. Other "worlds" don't crash really unless I've been playing for a long time.

I'm considering dedicating a spare SSD to Sims 4. Might be more stable that way.

    Hello.
If your computer continues to keep crashing, you may like to post your dxdiag infornation. Simmers may be able to assist you.
    It will take multiple posts.
To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, do this :
Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
Type dxdiag in the text field
    Click OK
Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report

Also make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date.

If you are using an older computer like you describe, I would recommend making sure you run the game in 32-bit mode, rather than 64-bit mode. You might also consider using laptop mode for the graphics. Also, try running the game without mods, and limit the amount of custom content you use (including recolors) - these use RAM, which is at a premium if you have less than 8 GB RAM. (Try moving the Mods folder somewhere else, like the desktop, temporarily to see if it helps. If that fixes the problem, you either have too much in your Mods folder, or you have outdated mods - check the site where you got your mods for updated versions - especially if using a mod like MC Command Center.) You might also consider temporarily moving your tray folder out of your game directory, creating a new empty tray folder, and playing with a new save to see if that helps (the Tray folder contains your saved households and lots). Some people report that too full a tray folder slows things down, so it might bring an older computer to its knees. If the Tray folder is the issue, but you want to use some of your households, lots or rooms, upload what you want to use to the gallery with notes about the issue (be sure to note that any lots you didn't create, especially if you haven't made major changes to them, are NOT yours) with the original Tray folder in its original place under Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/. Then move the Tray folder out of the game directory, create a new empty Tray folder where the old one used to be, and when you play the game, go to the gallery, and search under your own gallery username to find the content you archived to the gallery cloud, then download only some of the content. (I know that works because after a new hard drive was installed on my machine and Windows 10 was reinstalled, this is how I got back some of my content - but only what I had uploaded to the gallery, which used to be only stuff I had made. The rest I got back out of the Tray folder that I had backed up. However, restoring the old Tray folder tends to be an all or nothing thing. )

I have been playing The Sims since 2001, when Livin Large came out. My avatar deliberately looks like Chris Roomies from TS1.
