Yard Sales

«1
I like having the painting display thingy. My Sim saves all his masterpieces and sells them at 300% mark up. So much easier than opening a retail lot. I use the table mostly to sell frogs and woodworking items.

I can't figure out for the life of me how to use the tarp. I bought all the timgs at the Flea Market and was going to try to sell them at a huge profit.

It doesn't seem like the sales amounts count toward money earned by the individual Sim in the Wealth aspiration. It does count toward the money in reserve.

Is anyone else using the Yard Sale items? How is it working for you?

Can we use the table on a home lot like we do at the flea market? I tried that but there wasn't an option on the table to 'start sale'. So, she just stood out there tending table and no one ever coming onto the property. I thought I saw someone here when game was released, have a home yard sale.

Yes you can. After you pick tend table, then you should be able to click the table again and set prices. Click again and start yard sale.

Thank you, I will go back and see why there wasn't those options on table just tend table. ETA: I would also like to know how to use the tarp in public and on home lots. I can't figure then out, either. lol

I didn't know you could do this? Did this come with City Living? I just need a table and some stuff to sell?

Yes. I hadn't gotten around to trying these things until recently. But I have a Sim who should make her living from yard sales since it fits her character (poor has to earn everything the hard way, lol) I made her sell flowers the other day at the flea market. She made about $58 so it was alright, since she didn't have time to collect any crystals or frogs etc. I want her to move up to ratty furniture. lol

I think the items are not super expensive, so your poor Sims can save up for them pretty easily.

Yes, I caught up with packs a couple of weeks ago and am still finding stuff, but this sounds just what I was looking for.. I tried to do something similar with a retail lot when GTW came out, but the word tedious doesn't cover what I had to go through...and, yeah, I like to make 'em work for it as well

What bits do I need? Just a table and tarp? I assume I can carry in inventory and setup wherever?

I don't think you can put large objects in personal inventory so I have no idea how to make the tarp work. Like a chair etc. Those things go into home inventory so I don't understand. I though we could carry around a yard sale table in inventory and place them on the public spaces but I haven't figured it out. Seems impossible.

I think you can put chairs from outdoor retreat in your inventory, not sure about the tarp. I'm gonna create a sim and have a mess around to see what I can discover....

Great! come back and tell me how to do this, whenever I go to Carl's site, those ads slow down my pc and my antivirus usually tells me I need to get off there.

Grrr.... what's the yard sale table called in build/buy? Can't find the 🐸🐸🐸🐸 thing. You'd think a search on yard sale would find it, wouldn't you? :frowning:

Only way I could find it was to look under Activities/Misc. ETA: I never memorize object names.

    OK...

Come and Get it Street Store and any outdoor chair can go into your inventory. Not the tarp, sadly :(

You can stock the table with anything that will go into a sim's inventory. I just grabbed all the books off a bookshelf and dragged them into my sim's inventory for my test.

To setup, drag the table out of the inventory and then you need to stock the table. To do this, open the sims inventory and drag your stuff to the table.

Next, select the table and select stock table, then tend table, then start sale.

I could have sworn they said we could put tarps in public spaces, maybe that was wishful thinking. Meaning they could carry it in inventory/and option place in world...I guess I misread something somewhere.

I am actually a little confused myself. I have just bought a tarp from build/buy mode on a residential lot and there is no interaction for it for my sim to put into inventory. But, I distinctly remember buying one from that camping supplies in Granite Falls which did go into my inventory.

I remember asking when we were all talking about yard sales and someone (I thought a guru) had said just drag it to the street...but nothing (Not even yard sale table) will drag past the property lines. :/

ETA: I also built a flea market (had to set it as park and hide some objects below in non routable basement) and the Sims do pop into the community lot to buy once sale starts but those on already on lot don't bother just keep doing what they are doing. The 'start sale' option is there on community lot, but it just generates Sims to buy and leave. I guess that's o.k. but I wanted the Sims at the 'park' to buy, too. But money is money. :D

I thought I heard that too. And the description would indicate more of a use than just another rug option.

I would love it if the flea market sold more than lamps and chairs for furniture, my sim is trying to furnish their apartment with second hand items only. Also I have been playing a challenge where my sim can only make money selling things she finds with the market table and found out that you can start a yard sale anywhere, including inside public buildings. The tarp doesn't work at all for selling and you can't sell posters on the art wall or table.

Yeah, and I have the right object. The description says it doubles as a flea market display.

I've been lucky I guess some sell the snow globes so it just depends. I had to share a table with someone else and figured my Sim wouldn't make any money he ran to the table and placed his frogs there taking up the whole table but she was able to put her flowers on there, too. lol It was up to my Sim when to end the sale. And I could mark up the items (this was at the game's festival flea market) but didn't get any money when he sold his frogs so I guess that is o.k.

I never have the right item though to ever trade for something.

I'm gonna log off and get in game and see if I can do this. I couldn't do this the other day. Maybe it was just me. I may have to test in new game instead of current one.

Yes you can buy those but I would like to see dining room furniture, stoves, fridges, art and other things like that
