Excellent chapter! I can see why Xan is turning out the way he is.
I like that you decided to approach this generation by starting with the characters when they are older and revealing their childhoods as backstory. I think it's much more intriguing that way. Discovering characters' pasts and secrets in bits and pieces is more fun than having it all explained outright at the start. That was part of what made the first generation so engaging, and although I enjoyed the other two, I kept feeling like something was missing that had been there before. I think now that this is what was bothering me. I'm glad you decided to do it this way this time.
@GlacierSnow Awww, I'm glad this is clicking with you more than gens 2 and 3! When I was deciding whether to start with kids or teens this gen, I leaned toward teens because these guys just didn't have the childhood "trauma" that some of the characters in those gens did, like Gal or Clem. (Okay, maybe Xan does, but he's a demon. )
Their childhoods are part of who they are, and it's fun to take a peek at them, but I think I enjoy writing more about them as older characters. There'll be a big time skip at the end of the teen arc, and I'll have to fill in what happens in that time too...
Rex's daughters are Eeeeeeeeevvvvvviiiiiilllllllllll see you need to say it like that otherwise you know they are just playing at it. Poor Xan, don't you just want to offer him a warm bed by the fire and his favourite vampiress chew toy? Just me? I doubt it....
@pammiechick LOL, it's all relative...and hey, he still voluntarily spends time with Velvet and hasn't tried to kill her, apparently!
Xan isn't a natural demon prince, but he's trying...
@Bloosmoo LOL, there's a reason they can't be left alone for long periods of time--or that Rexx and Velvet don't take them with them when they visit Belle and Valerian. Belle's lovely French chateaus would be burned to the ground.
Hmmm, would he be chewing on the toy or would the toy be chewing on him? 🤔
Xanny surprised me with his demeanor! I though he would be more like Rexx, who didn't surprise me at all. I see him more like Velvet, sweet and loyal. Now he just needs to get Rosaline back somehow.
A lone vine climbs
Reaching for the heavens
Wrapped in the gentle cloud’s embrace
While angry orange fires dance below
(Or something)
Hahaha! I can totatly picture Ivy and Cirrus up a beanstalk with an 🐸🐸🐸🐸-off Clem doing some sort of angry dance at the bottom with steam coming out of her ears.

@CitizenErased14 LOL, the boys this gen are very different from last gen's in terms of personality--Sly, Rexx and Val vs. Rowan, Xan and Cirrus... 🤔
Xan really doesn't sound too enthusiastic about being a demon king, but he's still going after Cosette, hmmm...
Rosaline is after Cosette's next chapter! I think. Man, I'm too far ahead.

Your son doesn’t seem demonic at all. Well except for the revenge part.

Hit me right in the feels. Maybe I won't have to slap him.

Hmmm, Rosaline's not having it right now, but maybe she'll change her mind?
OoooOOOooo...Ivy...
A lobster thermidore chapter? Hmmm???

@Minty1992 Aww! Cosette would be so proud to be first, LOL.
And, I cracked up at Ivy's musing about "doing it" with an "alien". As if things aren't awkward enough, just being a teen and inexperienced. Lol.
LOL, humans and fae are confusing enough for her, but then when you throw possible alien anatomy into the mix...
