I just resumed the challenge today and was very surprised to receive my first cowplant berry in space! Yay. Kidlet here we go. (She was abducted for a second time the night before so for all I know she's already expecting. No plumbing/no way to do a pregnancy test.)
@Aspensong Hooray for the Cowplant berry
Did you know...? Only males get pregnant by alien abduction.
Unless you have a mod females do not get pregnant when abducted.

Thanks for telling me about guys only. I saw a you tube video that I guess had a mod loaded and didn't realize it. Also, thanks for the heads up on the sale. I just got seasons and famous. I guess I'd better turn off weather effects or I'll have to restart the challenge (not appealing). First child was a boy. Think I'll adopt a girl after the next cowplant goes in. I'm not convinced there's much wrong with grafting. I think we just have to wait for several harvests or possibly for the grafted plant to reach a certain level of evolution. I just got bonsai blossoms from a grafted plant after it evolved to magnificent. It was the third time I'd harvested after grafting. Maybe we just need to be patient?

Well, taking two toddlers to the hot springs and trying to get them both bathed before midnight was very challenging. Non-family adult sims kept getting into the tub. My adults had to keep calling them over. By the time we were done getting toddlers clean it was too late to send dad to the hot springs. He arrived reeking and went back home reeking!
Well, I did something that possibly twists the rules a bit. I know it's silly of RL me to feel horrible when my toddlers are suffering because they are only pixels generated by algorithms, but, I do. So, since everybody in Forgotten Hollow is my very good friend and the "magic" protected plumbing there, I took my family to visit the Vatores. Toddlers are bathed and happy now.
Yay! Full house. One major goal achieved. Seasons has added so many plants that the directive to evolve all plants /collect all plants has gotten more difficult. All holidays were good until the harvest/thanksgiving festival. On a post-apocalyptic lot with only a grill, no fridge or stove it isn't possible to cook a great feast. My glutton of a Simself was not happy about missing out on that!
I would replace the holiday with a new one that doesn't have grand meal as a goal.
This is what I do all the time. I leave the original name and change all the activities. "Make a resolution" is a must as well as ones related to music. I just realized there is an activity related to games so that also works. Sometimes I leave the option to have the day off. But if they are close to a promotion they gotta go to work.
Just thought the two of you would be happy to know your suggestion worked like a charm. I eliminated the feast from winterfest and it went very well for the whole family.
You may want to rethink the any rewards other than the one that reduces tension for sims. I'm going to suggest no money tree. I planted one and the family has enough simoleons to buy the 140,000 Mercantile three times over. It may not be all bad though, because I don't seem to be able to get the timing down for going to the starter lot for bills. My last Vardo lot bill was over 13,000 for that week.
@Aspensong Yes, mods will do it (as EuphorialQueen noted) - MCCC is the one I had installed and had forgotten the settings in the config file that I copied to the save of the Eco Existence Challenge (I play on Long and adjust my lifespans and need the story progression in the world to keep up, so I add MCCC to pretty much all my worlds). I'd allowed for both male and female Sims to be abducted and get pregnant and had forgotten about it - and had no way to change it since you don't get access to a computer until you've unlocked it.
It has produced an interesting set of circumstances in the game! And you can believe I'll be returning that setting to default (only males can get pregnant) for Murkland!
Had my first cowplant die but replace it in time. I put some perfect plants in fam inventory and bills dropped to 4,000/wekk. Much better. Madhouse with 3 adult, 2 kids, and 3 toddlers all having hygeine problems on a filthy lot. Is there a birthday cake solution if there's no stove? I didn't notice Birthday cakes at the Mercantile. Aging up has been making them sad. Can I travel with family to the park in Myshuno and use that kitchen? Seems wrong for post-apocalyptic scenario. Maybe I can get around it by doing the one day pass to sell rage potions with Simself and have her bake several cakes and put into inventory to bring home?
@Aspensong There should be Zombie cake at the Mercantile. Another choice is to bake one on a lot that has a stove. The Pufferdome for example has stoves you can use.
