How to change the clock time?

nanashi-simsnanashi-sims Posts: 4,142 Member
So, I'm from generation TS2 and actually prefer that when my sims leave their homes and families they come back and time has not passed for the other family members. I know in TS4 this is not possible, but I thought that if I queued up tasks for my sims at home, they'd do them while my other sim was away. This is not the case :confounded: I got back and it's late and homework isn't done and sims are going to bed and playing video games and doing NOTHING they were queued to do :bawling:

How do I roll back the time? I am not going to make my children sims stay up all night just to do homework they should have been finished with.

BTW: I don't see any commands on the cheat list for this. Is there a link to a comprehensive cheat list?

There isn't a way to do this time passes when your away from the lit and sims loose their queued actions when you're off lot. You can have sims work on some skilling by clicking on their portrait and selecting the skill you want them to work on but unfortunately working on honework or the daily job requiments are not on that wheel. I wish they would add that option though it would be a very nice addition. They will take care of their basic needs while you're off site though.

You can have your adult sims help them with homework it will get it done quicker or have do it and give them the potion that fills their energy bars to full before sending them to school purchasing it with whim points (it's fairly cheap if I remember correctly maybe 400 points at most) kids can buy them too or you can have an adult buy it and tranfer it to the chikd.

Sims 4 definitely requires a different sort of time management from Sims 2 or 3 but you get used to it after a while.

Meh. In that case I'll just use a cheat to max their values then drain their energy enough to have them go to sleep after their homework is done. I don't think I'll be having my sims travel until there is a way to set the sim clock :bawling: They can all be shut-ins then.

I actually prefer the time the way it works in this one. Dunno just gives me a sense of progression. @3KNPen described the scenario better I think and they're right in saying that you do get used to it.

Also and I'm sorry if off topic but *GLOMPS 3KNPen" Hadn't seen you around much so saying hi. :3

The UI Extensions Cheat Mod is the one you'll want. It's really easy to raise or lower needs a little or all the way in either direction with it. It also lets you adjust relationship settings and more easily give sims money without entering the cheat codes for it.

Get that and your sims can enjoy their lives, get their work done and not be trapped at home while doing it!

Another tip is just to let homework go. It took me a LONG time and tips from the forums to realize that they don't need to do their homework every day and if you have a couple levels in the writing skill you can write them an excuse note to stay home from school. It does depend on the life span you have your game set to but as long as it's not short then you should be able to still make As before aging up without over stressing it.

Good luck and welcome to 4!

Yeah, well before getting your sims to travel, make sure you let them do all the important stuff first cuz they won't do the tasks when they're at home while you're away. You'll get used to it the more you play and will be more strategic about things. :) At least the kids finish doing the homework much faster than in TS2.

Found a cheat to allow a single sim to leave the lot and not have the sims left at home suffer for it:

clock._set_milliseconds_per_sim_second 1000 <-- sets the clock so that 1 sim minute is equal to 1 minute real-time. I found that fiddling around with this changes the days as well, so that is a little annoying, but it enabled my sims to do their homework and get ready for school (it also threw them into Sunday so they're grades won't suffer.

I find that setting the time to 1000 is only useful when the sims leave the lot, otherwise it's too hard to play if after the sims do everything to max their needs only 3 minutes have gone by

This is really awesome. I forgot about this cheat but I always wished I could slow down the sim time. They should add an option for that.

It's got magical maths, but you can adjust the 1000 seconds to find the sweet spot slow time for yourself :relaxed:

I found this cheat! It slows down the clock speed at any tempo you want! Just don't exactly copy and paste this cheat. casclockspeed {0-10} Don't add the {}or the 0-10! add a number, 1-10, and then there you go!
