Question about camera control

My mouse does not want to move the camera around the screen. I am often "fighting" with it to get the camera to move, and often resort to using arrow keys on my keyboard. The overall effect is unpleasant, since I feel like I'm constantly fighting with the camera in an effort to see my sims.

Is this normal, and just something I have to get used to? Or is there something I can do to change or improve this?

Try switching between sims 3 and sims 4 camera controls and see if this helps your issue. Some simmers find that sims 3 camera controls work better /easier for them when playing the game.

@HappySimmer3 , Tangie, I am using the TS3 camera and it's working fine. I chose it for the sake of familiarity, lol. The one thing I have had to change is how to tilt it. I used to be able to just use the middle mouse button but somewhere along the line that changed. To tilt now, I have to hold down the right mouse button along with the ctrl key.

The only other thing I can think of to suggest is to be sure edge scrolling is checked.

Hope you get it worked out. Fighting with the camera is not fun!

@DOLLDRMS1 thank you! I know I've tried playing with the TS3 camera before and still had trouble. But I don't know if it was set for the TS3 controls the last couple times I tried to play, all I know is that I hated how the camera wouldn't move smoothly. When I would try to move the mouse forward to move the camera forward, it moved but would crawl at a snails pace and then I had to resort to arrow keys and the plus and minus keys to get it positioned where I wanted it. Just comeplerely awful and makes it miserable to play. Wish I understood what they originally based the camera controls on because it sure doesn't seemed it was designed for the PC.

Thanks for the info on how to tilt the camera. It seems like it would tilt with the middle button once, then it wouldn't work anymore. I'll have to try to remember 'right mouse button + control key'. I'll probably open the game up again sometime before the end of the month. Right now I'm having too much fun playing and remodeling a legacy house in TS3, TBH.

That's really strange that clicking/holding the middle mouse button doesn't tilt the camera for you. It works for me on TS3 camera mode. My controls are the same in 4 as 3. If I click and hold the right mouse button, I can pan around, but not tilt (I use my middle mouse button for that). I have the sims 3 camera option checked and all others unchecked. Seems weird that some people it doesn't work for.
