Is The Sims 2 available for purchase in Origin?

SheepilingSheepiling Posts: 586 Member
I know there was a big deal about buying all the expansions and the base game for The Sims 2 in one bundle a while ago, but I'm super out of the loop and have no idea if it's still for sale and where to get it if it is. Does anyone here know and can tell me how I go about buying it? :open_mouth:

    Thanks for the information!

So, my computer doesn't have a CD drive. If I were to go buy the discs for TS2 and all expansions and give an EA rep. the registration codes would I be able to get the collection on Origin? Is that how this works? :open_mouth:

Me and a few friends got the Ultimate Collection for free on the first try, no registration codes needed. The customer service reps are usually very nice and won't mind giving it away since it earns them good ratings from the customer satisfaction surveys. You just gotta ask politely and make sure you do that through the live chat, the phone reps are not very helpful, unfortunately.
    Good luck.

Thank you!! One more question! Where do I go for the live chat? :open_mouth:

I've only owned Sims 3 and played Sims 2 at my dad's house when I was a kid before 3 came out (it was my step-sister's, not mine) XD
And I miss Sims 2 but have never used Origin for anything other than Sims 3 and have never had any issues so I've never contacted customer support before. :s

    Hi :)

No, it's not for sale on Origin. It's not being made any more so the only place to get it is second hand- check out any second hand store online or RL.

It is available as the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection on Origin for free, with stipulations- it's given away if the person has a good registration code or is having problems with other games- (like I had with another Origin game).

I'm still a bit confused! :( What if we don't have a registration code? The only registration codes I'm even aware of are the ones I got when buying TS3 and the stuff & expansion packs. I'm going crazy trying to find a way to get TS2! Any help or info would be much appreciated..!

Just like Sims3, the Sims2 has booklets (a proper guide with tips on how to play!) and on the back cover, there is a code for installing your game - that is the registration code. The problem is that if it is a second hand game, the registration code may have been previously registered.
    Hope this helps?

If you don't own any Sims 2 games still contact customer services on line chat you still may be able to get it based on the fact you own other series of the game, however if not offer to purchase a brand new factory sealed base game or double deluxe with an unused code and they might offer you the full series for that. This is what I did and was given the full series which I thought was very fair. Players are still managing to be given UC and there are plenty of ideas on the following link..

hope that helps come back and let us know if you find a way to get UC :)

That's interesting. The Complete Collection is the only option available to me if I want to play TS2 again.
This is fine by me because I never tried the last two expansions. Seems like I was grandfathered in to that promotion.
My best guess is because I bought and registered most of the series anyway.

PS I just re-read this and realized it wasn't very clear. The Complete Collection is available to me for download on Origin even though that promotion is long gone. The individual games and packs are gone though.

Not anymore. Until July 2013, it was possible to purchase The Sims 2 games but as of that date, they have been removed. Even if you have the game (The Sims 2) on your Origin library, Origin will not allow you to download them. I tried to download The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff and it refused to download it so I'm assuming The Sims Stories games would also refuse to download as well. The only Sims 2 game that Origin will allow you to download is The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection so you will need to download UC if you have it.

The Sims 3 does the same thing if you do not have 1.69 (i.e., you installed a U.S. or European DVD copy of The Sims 3) and you try to download an Expansion Pack or Stuff Pack, it will refuse to download the EP/SP.

Fortunately The Sims 2 UC doesn't make you sign in to Origin unlike The Sims 3 1.69, The Sims Medieval, and The Sims 4 but beware that the game still includes SecuROM.

I spoke with an EA employee online and I got The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection for free on Origin because I already owned it before. They were really nice, and I play it all the time now! I'm not sure if that way will still work, I did it a while back but it's worth a shot.

I have the complete collection sitting in my Origin library waiting to download.
Never asked for it, it just showed up in place of my individual games. (and I didn't have all of them)

It's sitting there right now. I just don't have any more room on the computer I would want to put it on.

Well, I tried getting it and I was told I need to have a Sims 2 disc serial code to be able to get it on origin. So I guess they've changed their policy since the time you guys that got it free got it. I'll just try to purchase a disc from ebay or something and try again later when I have a serial code to provide.

    @Sheepiling

If you have no sims 2 games on disc at all call or go back to CS online and explain you have lost the original base game purchased some years ago but are happy to purchase a brand new factory sealed unused code base game or double deluxe in return for being given UC that is what I did and they gave me the full series.

I am not sure which country you are in but last time I checked a new base game from amazon in the US is cheaper than the Deluxe version and in the UK a new double Deluxe version is cheaper than the base game go figure lol

I will keep my fingers crossed for you come back and let us know if it worked :)

@SPARKY1922 Thank you for the information! I'll have to wait until after Christmas to be able to purchase anything for myself. I'll let you guys know if it works when I'm able to get it. XD
