You may chat with anyone while playing anything or while playing nothing, doesn't matter.
The question I can't answer myself is why Sims 4 upon getting an achievement offers you an option to brag about it on privacy hazard social networks. Who on earth still uses those (except egotripping Bioware developers)?
Why Maxis didn't just put it as notify your Origin friends who of course play the game too?
