Sims should be able to live their own life without being controlled all the time

I feel it would be a nice touch to be able to turn on a possebility for the sims you do not play to keep living their own life, without us controlling everything. Have children, grow up, getting married. Whenever I go into a new gameplay now, I know exactly the story behind every sim who already lives in town from start. It would be fun to get some suprises back in the game, without having to controll everything myself
