Elevators in custom apartments?

I made a 10 story custom apartment (if you didnt know yes it is possible i just forgot the cheat to make it an apartment and add the extra floors) in Belladonna Cove, and on the top is a 2 story penthouse that I moved my sim in after breaking up with her spouse. (I also took 2 of the 11 kids with her.) and it has honestly been a hassle to walk down ALL 10 flights of stairs to get to the carpool, so I was wondering if I add elevators will sims actually use them/be allowed to use them? Thanks.

Yes they will use them. They usually choose them over stairs from my experience.

Yes, they work and they'll use them more if they can.
Pro Tip: Place the most expensive elevator to avoid it breaking and sims plummeting. Just in case put more than one elevators and stairs.
