Uh....Eew. It's not as much the taste that I hate, but I have negative memories with moldy salami, which will probably prevent me from ever truly enjoying salami for a long time.
Ironically, salami is supposed to form mold. Of course, in most countries we all cringe at the idea, and we actually chemically treat salamis to inhibit mold formation, but traditionally they would wait for mold to grow all over the outside of the salami to develop the flavour. I learned that when our Italian class in high school went on a factory tour at a salami factory (said factory later closed down in 1995 after an E. coli outbreak that killed a little girl and left others with permanent renal failure, as an aside).
There are some similar traditional practices with cheeses, we won't even talk about that fly-blown maggoty cheese (I can't recall the name of it) - the process is illegal in many countries anyway.
To chicago style pizza, I will probably say ewww. I don't think I've had it, but deep dish is not my preferred style, I like thin crust pizza without the toppings being too overboard. Margarita is my favourite, but it *does* have to have enough cheese, garlic, and FRESH basil, and not go overboard on the tomato. Picky, ain't I? I do like traditional Sicilian pizza too, the recipe they use for their pizza bases actually has UNESCO recognition. A traditional Sicilian pizza bar recently opened in my suburb - the pizzas are soooo good.
@LilfireworkSims YUMMM to the Chicago Deep Dish...Conan's in Austin in the 90s had the most amazing one called The Savage...I could pack it away in those days. Some people ate it with a knife and fork, but not us savages...hehe. But pizza two inches deep...yeah....
Dukkah sounds lovely (nuts and warm spices pounded together, what's not to like?) but I couldn't eat it due to allergies. Still, how yummy!
