IMHO an early (and later reversed) decision led to the specifying of a game engine that was less than ideal for what they would have liked to do with it now (or what we would have liked to expect based on previously enjoyed features)
3. The Q&A will be focusing solely on the above items that we discuss. We are not talking about future content, we are not making any announcements about content, and we aren't giving hints to anything.
You know how to destroy all fun in just one sentence.
Seriously?
What is the point of asking questions when we know all are we gonna get is "We cannot talk about future content"!!
Then what are you going to talk about?? An SP that was released 2 months ago??
No, they're going to talk about the decision process for inviting someone to be an Influencer, and the role they play, I think. This is actually of interest to those people who wish to join that group and be invited to future EA events, so it has its place.
Hello everyone! I just wanted to stop in here to clarify somethings about the panel:
1. Those who attend will absolutely be able to share what they learn after the panel is over.
2. There are two portions for this panel. The first is hosted by myself and is about what goes into deciding what influencers we work with / how content creators can start building relationships with us. The second is hosted by Lyndsay and Rachel and will be giving some insight into how far we've come with The Sims 4 since launch, explaining the addition of Game Packs and what they have to offer, and what exactly goes into development for content on The Sims 4. 3. The Q&A will be focusing solely on the above items that we discuss. We are not talking about future content, we are not making any announcements about content, and we aren't giving hints to anything.
4. We are taking this opportunity to grow stronger relationships with our international community who sometimes feel left out of things since our North American community tends to get more opportunities for things since our studio is based here.
I hope that helps clear things up

@SimGuruDrake don't worry we will not ask about future content, because we don't think there will be any, at least an interesting one.
We will just wait for your announcement of shutting down the sims 4 and the sims franchise as a whole. That is the only news me and at least some other players think we are going to hear from EA officially.
Everything I post is an opinion here and I think every post of others is as well.
Relax, halimali. It is what it is. Either play it or don't Sorry I really don't mean to sound like I am putting you down, but it was only after I started thinking this way that I was able to get anything out of the game at all, so I was glad I did.

You mean to be EA's unofficial advertiser and go ga ga over things like:
"oh I can't believe how awesome is the culling feature in my game"
"Yaay no more headache with more life stages, this is the best game, go and buy it!
"Who needs weather, rain or snow, everybody is happy with a sunny day"
"SP no.17 is way better than the last EP we got two years ago, go and get it"
No thanks, no body is going to have influence on me. The product itself will and it keeps failing to grow as they promised.
Their "strong foundation" was just a thing to make us buy it.
Everything I post is an opinion here and I think every post of others is as well.

The changes came slowly at first. Most didn't realize, or didn't care, and accepted them. They chose a comfortable life.

Yes, and this is disappointing. Gamescom is a trade fair for video games with notable announcements and this topic is just not very interesting. I'd love to hear some hints are plans for the future, but I don't care about Influencers. In my opinion its mutual admiration circle. And what we get after? Few articles about how amazing experience it was to participate in this event and exchange inspirational thoughts and ideas. Awesome. Can't wait.

The only thing I am still waiting for is the next EP. That will be a go or no go for me for sure. There are many awesome games coming out this November, so time to invest in them instead of in this game if the next EP is another let down.
Not going to wait another year for the next EP if the next EP is again plum.

I think we have already been able to work out that nothing exciting is coming in this particular quarter-year, so in line with their time-sliced reveal policy they really cannot announce anything for TS4 at Gamescom. I mean it would be a bit daft if they had a huge press reveal only to announce "no news this quarter, sorry" lol. Maybe in future years it would be a good idea to try and time an EP to be released in the same quarter as Gamescom!
@IngeJones, I know and I understand that but I think that this is the right topic and time to say that not everyone enjoy this policy. I like small hints and suggestions, expecially the smart ones so I'd love to hear that they would at least consider changing the PR strategy in the future.
It is important to get them on record and ask the toddler question even if we know what the answer will be. Why? Because I suspect that they are not working on toddlers and never will release toddlers for Sims 4. Therefore the "future content" self-imposed excuse they have does not apply and cannot apply to toddlers.
If toddlers never get released, we can go back to this Q&A from Gamescom 2016 and ask them again, "Wait, you knew back in 2016 that you had no plans to develop toddlers for Sims 4, yet you refused to answer a simple question, giving the basic excuse that you couldn't talk about future content. Why did you lie to your fans? Toddlers were never future content as it is 2018 now and Sims 5 has been released"!
I think EA is just digging a bigger hole for itself. At some point, the lie gets bigger and bigger and bigger and could have been stopped with the truth, but you have to tell more lies to cover up the initial lie until it all falls apart. It's EA/Maxis's fault that this issue has grown to the point where it is now. All they needed to say was that they have no current plans to develop toddlers and that Sims 4 has a different vision that does not include toddlers. People would then complain, but it would be over. Pretty soon that would be old news, people would keep on mentioning it, but I doubt there would be two or three threads on the first page of the forums about toddlers EVERYDAY for 2 years straight.

Like you, I'd like a straight up answer to the toddler question. However, I do not think this will happen, but in their silence and refusal to answer these questions, based on some arbitrary rule they've conjured up, they have answered. In many respects, more is said via ones silence then by speaking words. In this case, I take their silence as their answer.
And you're right, many of us feel lied to by this studio. Promises were made at the beginning and thus far we've yet to see them make good on them, "a foundation capable of making all of our dreams come true". Hmm....two years in and I've yet to be blown away by the games capabilities.

Well the reality is that you are setting yourself up for disappointment with that mindset because you will always be looking for something negative rather than giving content a chance to stand on its own. I know the future is bright for this game and it's mind boggling to see how my panels are somehow sending you off in this direction.
I stand by what I've said that we have been as transparent and forth coming as we can be with the confines that we work in. If you don't want to take it at face value and want to run off with it in wild directions that is your prerogative but it is no where near the truth.
The studio isn't being shut down, we aren't being silent, and EPs are very much still a thing. The game isn't being turned into a mobile game and it's not being treated as an MMO. Gamescom (and any gaming event really) isn't always the place to make announcements for things and will never dictate how we make announcements.
Additionally, influencers aren't just people creating YouTube content or streaming on twitch or running fan sites. Every person in this forum is an influencer in their own way, you can see it every time a speculation thread gets created and whether or not it will take off like wild fire. You are influenced in your every day life by the music you listen to, shows or movies you watch, your friends, your parents, your teachers, social media, forums, etc.

Uuh, okay, let me say something; We gave this game a chance for almost TWO years already. Yet, the only thing the dev team can come up with are totally random features I have never seen someone ask for. Same with that new event stuff leaked where Sims can gain XP and Job boost performance. How often did we tell you that we don't want this game to turn into an MMO type of thing? XP boosts and all that leaked stuff from the game code says otherwise. It IS MMO stuff. We want sandbox gameplay, we want a complete life simultor with complete life stages.
We have been asking since day one, literally for other vital things such as toddlers, cars, proper teens, babies not being tied to their cribs.. how many of these things we have been asking for have been addressed? Exactly none. We don't even know what to expect anymore at this point. The secrecy this game is covered in is also not making it any better. There are people out here just waiting for the next EP to see if the team finally takes a step up the ladder and finally does something about the issues.
Yes, I know, you always say that players here are just a ''subset'' of all the players, and not everyone may like everything, but things such as toddlers and all that stuff we have been literally screaming for since day one is the #1 request and yet we still have nothing. What does this team expect? for us to just wait for 5 years and hoping we will just blindly buy all the packs? Hoping we will forget about the issues this game has and move on? just to find out 5 years later that none of the stuff we have been so vocal about has been addressed? Oh wow.
Some of us (in fact many) have been part of the franchise since the beginning. I for myself, invested 16 years of money and dedication into this franchise. We only give you feedback and being criritcal about it so you can make this game better. But more than giving you feedback and being critical we can't do... the ball is in your court, and it's time to show what this franchise is worth..
Well the reality is that you are setting yourself up for disappointment with that mindset because you will always be looking for something negative rather than giving content a chance to stand on its own.
More condescension, more blaming the fans instead of addressing the obvious problems with the game and how it's been presented so far. Surprise surprise.
Most of us who have issues with this game would LOVE to be able to get excited about it and upcoming content. We don't get joy out of being negative. But when we're treated like bratty children for saying that we're unhappy with the game you can't expect us to stay optimistic.

Yes, that's what plums me out too. It's always the fans, the dedicated community to blame. Why even bother being critical and giving feedback if it doesn't seem to matter anyway.
@rudy8292
You should probably wait for the official announcement before making any kind of assumptions about what these boosts are.
I am not making ANY assumptions. This is part of the game files, I did not make any assumption and I did not make any of this up:
Events have a new “XP” system. Sims can earn XP and trigger a “Triple Boost Week” which will increase the rate a Sim builds job performance, boosts skills, builds friendships, gains aspiration points, or decreases the rate at which their Needs decay (note: this is still referred to as a “Boost Week” despite actually lowering the decay rate). Sims can only have one reward at a time.

And this isn't official information and shouldn't be considered as such. This is Zerbu's assumptions of the way it will work, that doesn't make it true.
It is important to get them on record and ask the toddler question even if we know what the answer will be. Why? Because I suspect that they are not working on toddlers and never will release toddlers for Sims 4. I would like a straight up answer as well. No need to keep a carrot dangling. It's been 2 years! If they say no, people may get mad and not play anymore and move on. Some may accept it and continue to play. It depends. If they keep silence, do they think they will be able to sell TS5 if it does release? Aside from toddlers, the way they are acting with everything else, it's going to be hard to sell TS5 because of all the issues we had to deal with in TS4. This isn't good either way. We need better communication and most importantly, honest answers!
Well the reality is that you are setting yourself up for disappointment with that mindset because you will always be looking for something negative rather than giving content a chance to stand on its own.

No one said you can't state that you are unhappy about the game as it is--I've stated on multiple occasions at this point that I welcome all feedback. But what I said isn't incorrect: if you automatically go in thinking something is going to be terrible then you are setting yourself up for disappointment and to only highlight the things in your mind that will continue to make you unhappy.
No one gets treated any other way than how they treat others or how they act when providing their feedback. Going around saying that the studio is being shut down simply because we aren't making an announcement at Gamescom (which we were in no way obligated to tell you about but we chose to be transparent about exactly what we were doing) is ridiculous. Our entire company wasn't having a press conference at the event but that doesn't mean any of our other franchises are closing.
I will continue to repeat what I've said: Communication works both ways; if you want more of it you have to be willing to listen and take things at face value, not add your own story to our statement to get people riled up. You* asked for the official teasers to know what's coming up so you aren't surprised when we go a couple months without a pack release and you can get excited / know if you're interested in upcoming content, so we give you that and you are STILL saying that we are silent and secretive and not being transparent. I answer your questions to the best of my ability on the regular and am still told that we are silent and secretive and not being transparent.
So where is that line? The middle ground? Maybe after those who attend the panel talk about what we shared you might understand how our development works and why we wait to talk about content until we are ready to (and this panel is going to be the most insight you will probably ever get about how our production / development works). If you still think we aren't being transparent after that then I honestly don't know what to say.
*you meaning our "core" fans as a collective meaning but in know way means it represents everyone

Most of us who have issues with this game would LOVE to be able to get excited about it and upcoming content. We don't get joy out of being negative. But when we're treated like bratty children for saying that we're unhappy with the game you can't expect us to stay optimistic.
You should probably wait for the official announcement before making any kind of assumptions about what these boosts are.
Yes, that's what plums me out too. It's always the fans, the dedicated community to blame. Why even bother being critical and giving feedback if it doesn't seem to matter anyway.
I am not making ANY assumptions. This is part of the game files, I did not make any assumption and I did not make any of this up:

And this isn't official information and shouldn't be considered as such. This is Zerbu's assumptions of the way it will work, that doesn't make it true.
