I would not buy an HP for gaming . That case has horrible cooling and not worth $1700 . This game does require a mid range gaming desktop or higher end gaming laptop . If buying a desktop you need a good case with good cooling that has fans and room for upgrades.

What country and what is your budget ? If you have a $1700 budget you can get a custom computer for that

If you go off the shelf newegg charges no tax outside CA, TN and NJ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227623&cm_re=gtx_960-_-83-227-623-_-Product

Better is to go custom where you pick out all your own hardware which I will page @chesterbigbird to help you with that option

I wanted to post a new topic on help reading a crash log, but I cant seem to find a button to do so.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the access violation, lol. But does that mean it's not reading the card or....? ((sorry if this is the wrong place))

Did you buy a new computer?

Can you post your computer specs please. Windows key and R key. This will open your run box in the lower left hand corner of your computer. In the box type DxDiag, hit ok, let it load and save a copy to desktop. Open the DxDiag text report at desktop. Copy and past the report in several sections in several posts. The text file will not fit in one post. You can also upload the text file to http://pastebin.com/ and then post a link here to your DxDiag if that is easier for you. Thank you.

Just to add, those crash logs are usually useless. The access violation refers to an address in RAM, not to anything useful or any information we can really do anything with. It's really more a by-product than the cause of the crash.

    Hello ^_^
Thanks for the responses. Yes, I got a new computer. Somone who builds computers and uses TS3 acutally picked it out. Plus, it was on sale >_<
She's a supervisor at GeekSquad, but a friend too. ^_^

Go to the asus web, search your make and model laptop and update your computer drivers. They have not beet updated by the manufacturer since 2015

You have a laptop so you have two video cards. You need to make sure the game is running on Nvidia not intel. This is why you are crashing. They game is probably using intel. You also need to use Vertical Sync to sync your video card to your monitor. This will prevent screen tearing and from your video card working to hard to render the game. The game has no fps limiter so vsync is a must with higher end laptops and desktops. See this thread for using vertical sync http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/906947/limit-fps-on-1070#latest

Okay, when I update the drivers, that will reset my game setting, yes?

Also, I follow those intructions previously. And I check every so often to make sure the V-Sync is still activated, which it is at this time.

If it's still not recognizing the card even after going through VSynce, is there any other way? I know there's a thing that involves coding... But.. Yeah.

Also, I just visited Asus.com and put in my computer, Asus G712, and it said zero results. It also isnt coming up in google.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... The tag says Asus G712, and I know it's an ROG...

Your computer model number is G752VL per your dxdiag https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-G752VL/HelpDesk_Download/

Okay, thank you... I wonder why the label says G712... ?? Must be for something else..
    Anyway, Thank you again.
It says there are 92 files available. Do I have to download all of them?

Also, is there a way for me to check which graphics the computer is using? I've already done the V-Sync... and it says it's working. But I dont know how to test that to be sure.

You can update sound and Video card for this game which is listed under VGA. You update the newest entry. They claim your bios needs to be updated. I would not do that without the help of a professional or by calling asus directly to help you. You could damage your computer if you don't know what your doing. They can also advise you what else may be mandatory updates to help your laptop perform better.

as far as FPS. To open the cheat box while in game, you hit Control + Shift + C keys. The cheat box will be at the top of your screen . You type testingcheatsenabled true and hit enter. You then have to use control + shift + C again to pull the cheat box down. type fps on and hit enter. Your fps will show in the upper right hand corner of the game. It should read 60. If it's much higher vsync is not working and we can try something else to fix that. To turn the cheat off use testingcheatsenabled false

I've now downloaded the drivers. The zip files opened up, and there's alot of folders inside.

The first one is labeled as, "Update.Core", and inside there's two .exe files.

One is called WLMerger and the other is NvBackend.

There are alot of other files inside besides those, however.

I also tried the fsp in the cheatbox, three times, but no number has shown up.
Testingcheats is definately on becuase I could turn on Buydebug mode just fine.

Thats odd I have never had that happen. I would call Asus and ask them about the video driver file. They will walk you through it.

The cheat is fps (space) on

I notice I have both G-Synce as well as V-Synce on... G-Sync says it's for fast refresh rates, but I dont want that, right?

You have a gsync laptop? use both and check your fps in game

    Hi ^_^
I wasnt able to go back in game until now due to life, so sorry.

I checked the fps, and the only time it goes a little over 60 is in CAS. But nothing else abnormal.

I do notice that when it's crashing though, it's usually when there's alot going on or when I try to choose various change clothes options or right after they come out of CAS, unless I save immediately after.

If G/V Sync are working, that means it's running on the Nvidia card, yes?
  • phoebebebe13phoebebebe13 Posts: 19,400 Member
Your fps looks like its working just fine. CAS runs separately from the game. There is an option in the launcher to turn off the store in CAS. I would do that. If your not opposed to modding your game, I believe there is a fix or at least some help with CAS. You would need to speak to @igazor about mods
