Okay, so...
One day, in the sims- I'm just here, making a family. I finish my family.
No CC, no mods, no add-ons, no EP's. I play the family, then the game crashes.
This happens from time to time, so I turn a blind eye to it, but when I go back to the game... I hover over the family, and the two sims have that weird glitched-look to them. You know, the static with random colours? Yeah- That
I then click on the family, thinking it's a one time thing. crash
I try again. crash
Now every time I play the game, even if it's a different family, the game crashes, and I don't know what to do.
I haven't actually played the game since August 2015 due to this, and since I updated my computer I don't have origin downloaded, but before I go headfirst into the water, I'd like a few pointers.
Any solutions?

I finally fixed it! Turns out all I needed to do was re-download my game and wipe the saves. I didn't need my houses as I didn't really play any of them- so luckily, I can start simming again!
I won Game of the Year in the 2nd annual Scummies Awards!
Hello,
Do you still have the sims 4 installed on your computer since you updated your computer? If you haven't, a fresh reinstallation may solve the issues.
If you still have the game installed, and your sims 4 folder in documents, try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder .
If the issue still remains, repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair
