Presenting my first Sims 4 Legacy, the Regnens.
I'll be using standard Legacy Challenge Rules using the base game only. Heir Laws will be Strict Matriarchy, Strict Traditional, Last Born. My founding Sim is Regina Regnen
Regina's traits are Ambitious, Creative and Loves the Outdoors. Her starting aspiration is Painter Extraordinaire giving her the Muser trait.
I'm imposing some modifications to the standard challenge for the story:
- No baby gender influence unless within 10 days of Elder (desperate measures).
- If there is an eligible Young Adult or older heir at the time of the current founders death, then the youngest is the new heir. If not, then the oldest eligible will be the heir.
- No anti-aging.
- Memorialization is by painting only (except for the tenth point).
- I'm allowing myself to alter the appearance of any Sim moved into the household.
I'll be posting updates of the family progress and scoring once per Sim week.

Comments
First things first, Regina met and moved in a primary spouse. Poor Johnny Zest thought he was the protagonist in his life, but it turns out he was wrong. As the first primary spouse his attributes and aspirations really made no difference; we'll have time to vet heir spouses later. Regina needed Mr. Right Now to start making money and babies.
Regina got a job as a painter and has been working almost exclusively on painting to advance her career and aspiration. Johnny started with a job in entertainment and has been splitting most of his time between guitar and comedy. He's also doing all of the odd jobs - cooking, gardening and collecting - because, you know, that's what supporting cast is for.
They're still living outdoors, feeling that better furniture is more important than shelter from the elements. They've gathered enough money for a pretty good bed, fridge and shower. Notice that Johnny's stand-up audience is the frog collection - it makes me laugh.

Regina and Johnny tried for a baby at the very end of the previous week and had a baby girl this week - Elizabeth Regnen.
Regina and Johnny are both moving along in their careers, even with a new baby in the family. Johnny has done almost no collecting and Regina hasn't painted as much since Elizabeth was born, but he's maintaining the home and garden while overall everything is running smoothly. They've added a few rooms to the lot to help keep everything in order.
Regina completed her painter aspiration and picked up fitness, so she has a small gym with the family crystal collection. Johnny was having a hard time getting into the playful mood so he now has a small studio with the MySims doll collection to practice his comedy. Elizabeth aged up at the very end of the week, so she has nothing but her randomized aspiration Social Butterfly and her randomized trait Loves the Outdoors.

Regina and Johnny tried for another baby near end of the previous week and had a girl - Mathilda Regnen... and then a boy - Mathew Regnen... and then another boy - Martin Regnen. That's right, triplets. Needless to say, they had their hands full this week. The three aged up to children in the early AM on Saturday, so Johnny took the whole pack to the park to let them work on their aspirations. As the youngest girl and with a near-full house, Mathilda is now the most likely heir to the legacy.
Genetically the family is a perfect split - Elizabeth and Martin take after Johnny while Mathilda and Mathew take after Regina. Despite pregnancy for half the week and three crying babies for the other half, both Regina and Martin were able to make some progress in their careers. Johnny's stall to his aspiration was his career, so now he's moving forward again. But Regina found it very difficult to work on her athletics while taking care of family, career, and continuing painting for income.
The house is coming along, though still not much to look at. There are spacious rooms to allow for growth and collection displays.
The children's triats were randomized using the generator. Mathilda drew Rambunctious Scamp and Goofball, Mathew drew Whiz Kid and Neat, and Martin drew Social Butterfly and Goofball. Elizabeth completed her Social Butterfly aspiration at the park and picked Artistic Prodigy for her new one - she just wants to be like her mommy.
As a little 'appropriate humor' for the story, when the triplets were born Elizabeth "Cooed" and "Talked" at them just to help out. She cooed and talked to Martin, she cooed and talked to Mathew, then she went to Mathilda to coo and talk, but walked off with a negative moodlet from meeting her sibling - which is fitting since Mathilda took heir from her.
Looking ahead, Mathilda's goofball trait isn't such a great trait for a legacy heir, but Sims will be Sims. With Mathew drawing Neat and resembling both Regina and Mathilda, he's likely going to take over the 'family rock' position from Johnny - meaning he will be the one at home taking care of Cooking, Gardening and Handiness. A full-time gardener can bring in a lot of cash, so he will definitely be earning his place.

I'd also like to make some honorable mentions. I'm stocking the neighborhood with gallery Sims and houses. Hopefully one per week but I forgot during week 1. So I'd like to thank the creators of my downloads.
Week 2 lot and family
- Starter House "Fresh" by namcia. It's cute and under $20k.
- Harmon family by NexusG77. They're a family of five with two children and one teen. I thought it would help to place some children around, and it did as one of the Harmon boys was the first child that Elizabeth met. I didn't look in the house when I placed them and didn't realize there is literally only one bed for the family, so I'll probably place a bigger house and move them this week. Then I'll place a smaller family in Starter House.
Life for the Regnens is moving along slowly but surely. Six family members takes more time to plan and carry-out, but aspirations are getting fulfilled and careers are advancing and grades are going up, so all is well.
Johnny finally completed his Joke Star aspiration and has taken on Nerd Brain in an effort to combat broken toilets and showers everywhere in the house.
Elizabeth aged up to teen after completion of two aspirations, drawing The Curator and Loner from the random trait generator. At first The Curator felt like an unlucky draw, but she will probably complete it start to finish in under 24 sim hours; she just needs time to breed frogs, but everything else is already laying around the house.
Mathilda and Martin both completed their random starting aspiration and went on to Creativity. That's apparently the new but fitting family tradition.
The house has taken on a very utilitarian "literal cubism" design. It's not very attractive now, but once they start to build "up" it will take on a much more modern/beehive look.
They also have four bathrooms now, since at least one shower and toilet break every day. Eventually once each family member has their own room and someone gets their handiness higher, bathrooms will go away completely in favor of each bedroom having its own facilities.

edit: I was counting family funds incorrectly. All fixed now.
The big event for this week was the triplet's birthday party. Due to Johnny's work schedule he had to prepare everything several days in advance, and wasn't even able to make it to the party. He made three cakes with candles and stuffed them into the fridge, along with enough food for the whole family to make it through the week.
Then it happened - monsters under the bed. The night before the party, all three triplets went into shared panic as evidently two monsters appeared simultaneously under Mathilda's and Martin's beds. Regina and the triplets were up for almost four hours until everyone calmed down enough to get back to bed. Unfortunately it left everyone feeling sleepy for the party the next day.
Otherwise, the week was very productive. Regina reached the top of her career, and with 8 days off at normally 2 work days per week, she'll coast quite nicely on vacation into retirement. Johnny's career is coming along, but very slowly. His ambitious trait failed him as he forgot to work hard one day of the week. Otherwise he does all of his daily's and keeps up with his promotion requirements, but can't seem to advance nearly as quickly as Regina did. The kids, on the other hand, are making A's with very little effort. Sometimes they don't even finish their homework, and often they socialize or slack off at school. That says a lot about our education system.
Looking ahead, some of the aspirations and traits they rolled while aging up will start to make this challenging. Mathew rolled Computer Whiz and Martin rolled Master Chef, neither of which can be completed as teens. They'll be doing a great deal of skilling in preparation for adulthood. Mathilda rolled Party Animal which she can probably complete as a teen. It will also help the family with their Popularity score which they have almost entirely neglected.

The whole town is starting to think that life is one big party for the Regnen's, but it's just not true. Despite Regina reminding her that there's still time to pop out another girl, Mathilda knows she's the heir to the family legacy and feels some deep need to be popular. She greets everyone she meets and usually ends up inviting them over several times during the week.
Regina, on the other hand, well aware of her time slipping away from her and wanting to leave something tangible to her children, delved into a deep pit of materialism churning out paintings like a madwoman - alternating between bickering with her agent on the phone and painting magnificent classic style paintings to hang on the walls. She's very picky about what she displays, keeping only the highest quality and selling off anything that looks too similar to something she already has.
Regina and Mathilda
Elizabeth and the family men have come to accept their roles as satellites in the binary-star solar system of the Regnen household. Martin has taken on the cooking for the family and Mathilda's parties, Mathew spends his time playing and programming his games hoping nobody bothers him, and Elizabeth has taken the metaphor literally and become an Astronaut. Meanwhile Johnny continues to keep his head down, working on his career and the garden, and has even taken up a new hobby building a rocket.
The house has finally taken shape, thanks to the surge of cash from Regina's painting. All of the kids have their own bedrooms with bathrooms on the second floor, and there is space for all of the family's activities with plenty of room to spare. It is rather funny that now that they all have their own bathrooms that they have to maintain themselves, showers and toilets are breaking far less often. They like to say it's because Johnny didn't fix things right in the first place, but I think everyone knows the real reason.
Looking ahead, there were some tough planning choices to make. Elizabeth didn't have an obvious path to contribute to the legacy - unlike Martin so clearly is going for Culinary and Mathew for Tech Guru. So Johnny and Elizabeth banded together to start working on Space Collectibles by him building a rocket and her becoming an Astronaut. Mathew planning to be a Tech Guru and Martin planning to go into Culinary also disrupts the plan for Mathew to stay home and take care of the house and garden. Ultimately, only the garden really needs consistent skill to maintain, so all of those duties will be split with Mathilda taking on the gardening. This will work out well, as she will also be able to be the socialite throwing parties and taking care of the Popularity portion of the challenge, while working on skills and aspirations of her own.

Full Disclosure - I cheated. Story Progression has failed me, and I was left with the choice of either continuing and hoping that new Sims get moved into the town before my second generation gets too old, or making a near-random sim to add to the family as the second generation primary spouse. I chose to make a sim to add to the family. My reasoning is pretty simple, I don't think anyone notices or cares what goes on here anyway, so if I'm okay with it, then it's fine. And if I have to cheat to continue playing, then I'm okay with it. I don't know if I'll do it for future generations, it all depends on whether story progression begins filling the town or not. Right now it's quite literally turning into a ghost town.
Now back to the story
The Regnen's had an emotional week. Regina aged into an elder followed the very next day by the triplets aging into young adults. This begins the second generation of the Regnen legacy.
Johnny finally attained the top of his career at the very end of the week, which is good because he's clearly not long for this world. Mathew and Martin joined the Tech Guru and Culinary careers respectively, while Elizabeth continues to ascend the Astronaut career.
Billy Finley moved in as the primary spouse for Mathilda. Billy is a Jealous, Music-Loving, Child-Hating sim who wants to be a gardener. His first action in the house before anyone could stop him was to smash the family's dollhouse. Sadly, most of the family sees him more as a necessary evil to carry on the family genes than as a meaningful contributor to the family legacy. Only time will tell if they will ever warm up to him. But Mathilda wants heirs, er... babies, so she warmed up quickly.

Another emotional week for the Regnens. On Thursday morning, Angelica Regnen entered the world! A mere few hours later, Johnny Zest left it. Mathilda's maternal resilience kept her sadness away, but the rest of the family grieved for several days - consoling each other and crying when alone.
