I believe that they always have about a 50 - 50 chance to get each of the hardest badges. But most of the badges are actually trivial to get. At least if we just let them do all the allowed 25 tasks ;)

I get what you mean, about liking it the way you do. I don't want it super easy either. But, that being said when you work 12 hour shifts at a hospital, i don't have hours to spend on here, i have to carry on with my life, Have a great day! ;)

This. I feel the same way. I'm not even bothering with the careers any more. For me its not difficult, just tedious. I've gone back to cooking (2 hr meals) and collecting life points while waiting for the next quest. Hopefully it won't be another career quest.
I am quite sure that they won't make more careers like those two (which I actually like) because that would contradict the way they have made this game way too much. They have until now gone to extreme measures to make all hobbies as different from eachother as possible and I am sure that they will do the same with the careers if we ever get more. They also seem to have known that those two careers aren't for everybody by making in possible to play them as easy careers with only 6 levels for people who don't want to follow their sims to work. But they apparently also wanted to give people (who wanted a more challenging game) some new opportunities ;)

I am still trying to better understand how the law enforcement career works, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I just received a notice that the squad car is available, but I can't open it yet because I need over 1,000 LP. Any suggestions on how to get more LP pretty quickly? I want to be able to do more within this career, but I definitely don't have over 1,000 LP.

    Thanks!

You don't need any LPs to build the squad car if only you have collected the needed resources. If you don't then collect more resources and remember also to use the resource exchange to trade unneeded resources for the resources you need.

It looks like I need some donuts and radios. I thought I could build the squad car, but I clicked on it and it said I didn't have over 1000 LP's.

    Hmmmm...

@MusicMeg222 Have you found the resource exchange?

I finally got the fifth badge also for my fourth specialist which was hard needed because this sim was the first to reach 100% XP at lvl 8 yesterday. So now I finally got a lvl 9 police sim and can start building the first one of the two workstations on the police station's second floor :)

Edit: I just began to build Division 51 on the top floor. So it will be finished in 48 hours ;) It cost nearly all my resources (and after some heavy trading in the resource exchange) - but no LPs :)

My police Sims seem to be occasionally getting stuck on tasks, I am on windows phone, is anyone else having this problem or know a way to stop it happening?

Sometimes when the task time is up they just stand there frozen for the rest of the shift. Occasionally using a lp to finish the task works, sometimes not and I just have to abandon the badge I was trying to do and leave them until the shift finishes or end the shift and start again. It is very annoying.

I have also noticed that the Sims are often not finishing the tasks on time and actions sometimes run on way after the time has reached 0s. This much reduces the effect of the efforts made to upgrade work stations to reduce task time, which is increasingly important at higher levels when tasks take longer and time matters.

@YvonneMcDermid I have experienced it especially in the jail cells. But not in the most recent days though.

    I tried different things:
    1. Using a LP. This I can't recommend because sometimes it doesn't solve the problem but makes it worse instead so that your sim is stuck for the rest of the whole workshift.
    2. Canceling the task and then start it over again. This is what I ended up to do always and it can be recommended because then you at least only lose the time spent on this single task. Otherwise it worked for me every time.

I believe that the game is programmed to let our sims sometimes do other things on their own too or to dream a little before ending the tasks. So this is probably intended as long as it only takes a short time.

    @ Erpe:

Where do I find the resource exchange? I don't think I've seen it anywhere.

When you are inside the police station you first have to tap the badge icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Then you have to choose the third tab :)

I finally got all the workstations built and both my sims are lvl 9 and have now also half of the badges needed to reach lvl 10. So this soon won't be very tedious at all anymore ;)

Congrats! I just don't feel motivated to spend more than 15-20 minutes daily on the game so I'd rather spend it doing something with more immediate results. I currently have 33 sims all cooking in order to build up my supply of life points for whatever the next quest might be. Before work I set them to cooking for 8 hours. When I get home, another 4 hours, if I remember. Then another 8 hours overnight. The 8 hr sessions are worth 1683 XP, getting me closer to that final level and 1 more sim.

Earlier I had more than 600 unused LP. But now I only have about 100 LP because I have used them especially to shorten tasks for my sims in the police station and in the movie studio.

In the police station the goal is to do 25 tasks in each workshift. This is easy for lvl 6 sims in the original 3 workstations and also for the new lvl 7 workstations. But tasks in the new lvl 8 workstations take about an hour and tasks in the new lvl 9 workstation take 2.5 hours. You need to do about all the 25 tasks in only 8 hours. So you can't use one ore two hours on just a single task. Therefore I skip them by using a LP. (The 2.5 hour tasks require 2 LP unless you wait half an hour before using just one LP which I therefore do.)

The problem is the same in the movie studio except that you only need to do 15 tasks in each workshift. But you have to work hard to get resources and to use the resource exchange in a clever way to become able to build new workstations. This isn't quite easy because the storage become full before you are able to use the resources or to expand the storage. So you have to sell some of the least important resources too ;)

Well it sounds like they have made it like you you wanted. As you said, you don't like easy games. So 25 tasks in 8 hours should keep everyone busy. ;)

    In a way :)

It is acceptable for me for limited time. But if it continued this way it wouldn't be because I want to have time for other things too. Fortunately my police sims are now lvl 9 and I also have built all the workstations. So now I don't need to make all those tasks every day anymore :)

    @Erpe
Thanks for your help, yes cancelling the task has worked best. The other issue has been fixed with the latest update where the bubble appears to allow the actions to be finished when time is up.

I now have two level 8 police Sims and have all the badges but one so will be at level 9 soon and building division 51.

Now I have got past the Sims getting stuck, I think this is a great addition to the game for those who want to play more, and it is good that it can be done slowly or not at all for those who don't want to.

I am having trouble collecting enough resources to get my badges per shift. Not enough Sims to help with handcuffs and fingerprints. Also telling me the police car is in use by another sim, but it is not in use by anyone. Any suggestions?
  • ErpeErpe Posts: 5,872 Member
@smvbb Some of the badges require luck to get in a workshift because you won't always get enough resources even if you do the maximal number of tasks. Most of the badges are trivial though because they only require you to get a few thousand coins or to do something like 8 tasks in a workshift.

But all the badges can be collected anyway if only you are patient. My special agent is at level 9 and has already collected all the 6 badges needed for level 10. But my metropolitan officer is attempting to collect 10 tape resources in a single workshift which is very hard because tape resources are rare. He has failed a couple of times already. But I am quite sure that he will succeed sooner or later anyway so he can get to lvl 10 too :)

Apparently they didn't think so because now we also have four new careers in the movie studio and the hospital :)

It is becoming way too much for different reasons:
    1. In the hospital our two sims have 12 hour shifts unless we do all 15 tasks so we can end the workshift early. But the tasks here seems to take longer than in the two other new work places.
    2. In the movie studio it takes forever to get enough resources to build more workstations.
    3. I just managed to get my special agent to lvl 10 in the police station. But it took about three weeks just to get him promoted from lvl 9 to 10. But at least I got the lvl 10 rewards for special agents unlocked.
    4. All those new careers have made us need to play the Sims Freeplay full time if we want to get to the top of all the new careers which is just way too much. (So I sure won't!)

I don't hope that we will get even more such careers.
  • simgirl1010simgirl1010 Posts: 35,708 Member
Yeah I've completed the train station and built the hospital. Now back to cooking and earning life points. :)
  • ErpeErpe Posts: 5,872 Member
My metropolitan police officer now also reached lvl 10 and got a new uniform too :)

So at least I now guess that I don't have to use so much time on tasks in the police station anymore and can concentrate on the movie studio and the hospital instead.

I haven't noticed this but I've noticed the Doctor Update has renamed Police and Movie Studio to Police Officer and Filmmaker respectively. This makes these two the only existing careers to have a name change in an update while Actor was renamed twice (Movie Studio and then Filmmaker).

I have my sim in the Special Agent branch, and I notice that the time an action takes does not reduce despite upgrades. My interview room is currently at Lv 11, and thus an interview should only take 8 min. "8 minutes" shows up under the description tab, but my sim's timer always starts at the default 9min 57seconds. Is it a glitch?

I just gave my special agent a task in that room. Then I tested what you wrote here by clicking on him a few times and the first three times it said about 10 minutes like you wrote. But after that it said about 7 minutes as it should for my lvl 18 interview room.

I have observed the same kind of misleading messages in other workstations. But I think that it is only just after we give our sims new tasks that we will see them and that there therefore isn't a real problem.
  • mauvejinjomauvejinjo Posts: 126 Member
Thank you, @Erpe and I hope so. I have been noticing the timer glitch on several workstations that are all upgraded. It wasn't until I actually sat down and watched the action timer that I saw it was still at the default time. Ah well, I get a ton of cleaning done while I wait for their tasks to be completed! :)

    Help!
I'm level 8 on police department and have collected all the resources to unlock forensics lab but instead of build it says vip7 but when I click on it I have to pay $100 human money to unlock VIP7 . How do I unlock forensics without paying money out of real world??
One sim is a super sleuth and the other a captain
