I cannot lie and I have to be honest....
Nice one Rachybop - she has no fear of EA not inviting her over for a holiday and an EA packed lunch.

Hmm, I think she has played sims 2 and sims 3 previously hasn't she? I am surprised she was quite as negative, since irregardless of the flaws, it's still functioning better as a restaurant experience than the one in TS2, where the sims were just all over the place doing what they wanted (in TS4 the allocated table does seem to exert *some* pull on the dining group). In TS3 there were no waiters or anything, just a chef, and the sims didn't bother to eat with their companions at all, it was kind of solitary unless some random stranger joined them at the table. So I think this is the best retaurant experience yet, but it does need the food prep and service time hurried a little - or actually needs the clock slowed!

I just think it is an honest review.

It is most certainly uncomfortable viewing for EA - it's almost uncomfortable viewing for the neutral viewer.

I'm hoping EA will take notice and re-think time in The Sims.

In The Sims 2 - I would simply freeze the game clock - you can then do everything you want, then unfreeze the game clock and carry on.

ie wake up in the morning - freeze time - do all the skilling and socialising you want - watch TV - have a bath - have a party, etc, etc - then unfreeze time and go to work (having just done a ton of stuff that could have taken many Sim hours, even days).

TS4 needs this badly, but EA are protecting that game clock.

So you think only negative reviews are honest reviews ?

I don't think it's a wholly negative review. She does mention things she likes about it, but the negatives she does bring up are true. A review should be balanced and not all rainbows and unicorns, which so many places do. The flaws should be brought up as well. She does tell people that if you want to run a restaurant to buy it. But at least people are forewarned about the issues that go along with it.

She is pretty much right about everything.

As far as slowness of eating and getting food served, I knew this would be an issue. I knew the whole eating at a restaurant was going to be a 5-6 Sim Hour experience. The Sim clock is terrible. Here you have this game set up like Sims2 with a clock running like Sim3. In Sims2 time froze when you were off your home lot and you were able to enjoy your time off lot knowing you still had time on in the home lot to do family things, play with other Sims or things around the house. In Sims3, the continuous clock wasn't a big deal because you could easily access your home lot while your other sims were doing whatever because of the open world. I still felt like I was working against the clock in SIms 3 but not as bad as this game. In this game, I feel the clock. Everything feels extra long because from the moment your sim wakes up, you already feel like you are running out of time...LOL

If you really want to see how fast the clock is moving, just listen to a DJ in a nightclub. It is laughable how fast they switch songs on the DJ Booth.

Of course - as long as it is true.

    EDIT:
Just to be clear - I misread the question as:

The point being, Rachybop is a long-time Simmer who has been hand-in-hand with EA for years - she's interviewed Gurus and visited EA, etc, etc.

I find it refreshing - it's almost like a LazyGamer review, just with a slant on the negative aspects as opposed to the positive.

It's just that you make it sound like that if you get invited to events or get early access you have to write a negative review to be believable, which I find truly sad.

I have never been asked to write a positive review for being invited to any event and I always give my honest opinion and so do most (I can't talk for everyone of course) of us that get invited.

I guess Rachybop had got her hopes up about some feature that wasn't there, like I did about not being able to run it as a family concern while it gets off the ground before you have to hire staff. If I had been making a review when I first found that out, it might have sounded quite negative. After a few more days, I was able to realise that overall it was somewhat an improvement over restaurants in previous incarnations.

Just to be clear, my comments aren't about Rachybop's video but about how one has to be negative to be believable in the community.

I find that also, it is really sad. This time we are getting more negative posts, on the forums in general

Thank you so much for this, it is refreshing to see that Not everything is Sugar and Roses, that there is truth in what she says as well, I am happy I got to see her review, much appreciated.

She complains that the dining experience takes way too long but is bothered by the waiters clearing the table so quickly. I think being able to steal food off others plates is great, you never have to pay to eat. And who takes pictures of half eaten food on plates? Why not finish, photograph the crumbs and say it was so good you ate before you could take a picture. I talk to other people sitting around me in restaurants, my Mom called that being friendly. There are things in the pack could have been done better or differently, but it's a game, a collection of programming that, hopefully, gives you a few hours of joy.

Yes @jimmysnan, I agree. It seems the only way people can get attention these days (and "reviewers" do it for the attention) is to be negative. Let's see them make a computer game worth a dime.

I like to read reviewers that aren't all unicorns & rainbows every single time, nor are gloom & doom all the time. If they are one or the other I feel they are irrevocably biased and therefore their reviews mean squat. So this was good to see. I used to think LGR was objective but no longer get that feeling, sadly. When someone goes on and on about what's bad or all the bugs and then says, "But I love it anyway," I'm like WUT?
