Another "Sims 3 wont start!" thread....

about a year ago I purchased Sims 3 through Origin and it worked fine...purchase, installation and game ran without a hitch...fast forward to now, I have reinstalled the game on the same computer and its a no-go....it will not run...reinstall/re-reinstall/repair/check update/no mods...it still will not run...I notice that the "Sims 3 Launcher" is active in task manager but the game will not start, even after waiting and letting it do what ever it was trying to do for about a half an hour...any ideas on how to fix?

First, do you still have an older TS3 game folder in place in Documents from the prior install? If so, try pulling it out to your Desktop for safekeeping, thus forcing the game to create a new one on its next attempted launch.

If that's no help, it sounds like you uninstalled the game prior to attempting a reinstall -- did you clean the Windows Registry (assuming we are talking Windows here and not Mac) in between? Remnants of the original install could be left behind that are getting in the way of the game functioning.

If this is the case, I would suggest uninstalling, clean the Registry using CCleaner or an equivalent tool, and try installing again. It is also possible to do a registry clean manually, but it's really tedious and easy to miss some entries.
