Question about running a cafe

When I download a user created cafe from the gallery can I then have my sim purchase the cafe in order to run the cafe? It sounds silly to ask, but I tried it a few times and kept getting a message saying that I couldn't purchase that cafe or something like that.

Hello.
It is not silly at all to ask about it! Sims can't buy and run cafes.
You could set up a bakery or other retail store though and have the espresso machine in it but you don't get money through selling the drinks/food from the espresso machine.

You could also turn the cafe into a retail store, add a cash register and put other items such as baked goods to sell in the store and have your sims run the store.
