Sims need to be Partners to sleep together in a double bed

In most The Sims games, Sims can only sleep in a Double Bed with another Sim if both Sims are Friends or are in a Romantic relationship. This doesn't seem to be the case for The Sims FreePlay. For some odd reason in FreePlay, Sims can only sleep with another Sim if those Sims are Partners. This is different from other games such as The Sims 4 as that game allowed 2 Sims to sleep in the same double bed regardless of Romantic relationships. Attempting to get 2 Sims to sleep on the same bed in FreePlay will cause a dialog saying they need to be partners.

I really wonder why FreePlay changed that rule to only allow Partners to sleep together. Would this make sense in real life?
