I am avoiding OE cookies as I am trying to lose the 10 pounds I put on these last few months.
Same! I've put on 7 and I'm short so it shows and my clothes are getting tight. However, instead of avoiding cookies I've started baking again (haven't done much baking in years) and I'm now distributing goodies to all my OE friends so that when we are able to be together again they will be as chubby as me. I meant to check out Country Livin' and Dreams of India but have been a little under the weather and missed that (and others), but they'll be on sale again later. I've decided to concentrate on completing the Storybook set and a couple of featured looks. The progress bars above the sets/compilations/featured looks are the reason my focus on sets has been all over the place. All of a sudden, I'm 40% here, 47% there, 28% here, and so on (not a complaint, of course).

I'm feeling better. With the current situation, it's easy to get panicked when symptoms show up, but I'm blessed with allergies, seasonal coughs and colds, and the fact that it is fire season in the state (smoke = difficult breathing). I just have to keep a level head and not get panicked every time I sneeze.

It's a sims Eurovision contest, where contestants from different sims towns compete with each other. Watch it and vote for your favorites over at the Russian forum! I use Google translate. Attention DD stalkers, those who post and those who are lurking! Catch us up on your DD stalking. Which items are you waiting for?
Lurk? Who, me? Um, yes, I've been lurking in this thread for a while, although maybe not always paying close attention.
I never started buying store stuff until about two years ago (almost exactly), so I've been catching up, slowly. I wasn't sure at first how much stuff, or how many points, I wanted to buy, so I started off just getting what I thought were the very best items. But as time went on, my list gradually expanded, as is probably true for a lot of people. So I bought a few more points, then more stuff, then more points, then more stuff... until there was a 50% off sale on SimPoints and I went ahead and got a massive pile.
I still have a little over 2k points left from that last bundle, which is not enough to cover all the sets I'm planning to get. There are something like 20 sets on my list where I've bought every item offered on the DD but can't get the set for free or close to it; in half those sets, I only need to buy between 100 and 200 points worth of stuff to get the set free. But I'm fine waiting and hoping for another similar points sale. In the meantime, I often play with Make Me an Offer to see if I can get a few items from those sets for free. I've completed a number of sets that way, although there's a lot of randomness.
I don't mind the slow pace because I haven't been playing much latelyโI'm currently into certain other gamesโand I already have more content than I'm ready to use. I think of the store stuff as a toybox of items that are waiting for me if and when I get bored or want something fresh to play with.
Anyway, this thread is still a great resource, as is the spreadsheet, and they've made my tracking and buying store stuff not only so much easier, but quite fun at times as well. And there are plenty of sets that I never would have considered at their full price, but once I saw the total cost when the Daily Deals and CYS were factored in, the prices were much more reasonable, and now I'm happy to have the items.
@puzzleaddict - Wow. Thanks for catching us up with your DD stalking. I definitely have a lot of items that I don't use. My store obsession with Sims 3 taught me a lesson with Sims 4. I am very choosy with which packs I buy now.

@Me1620 At the moment I am not stalking anything specific. I meant to check out Country Livin' and Dreams of India but have been a little under the weather and missed that (and others), but they'll be on sale again later. I've decided to concentrate on completing the Storybook set and a couple of featured looks. The progress bars above the sets/compilations/featured looks are the reason my focus on sets has been all over the place. All of a sudden, I'm 40% here, 47% there, 28% here, and so on (not a complaint, of course).
I also have the habit of impulse buying random DD items (obviously) because ... well, there isn't a real reason beyond "lowest price" and "hey, that looks interesting." That's how I ended up with some "Island Villa" items, and as a result of that I'll be grabbing that set at the end of the month when it's "green".

I'm feeling better. With the current situation, it's easy to get panicked when symptoms show up, but I'm blessed with allergies, seasonal coughs and colds, and the fact that it is fire season in the state (smoke = difficult breathing). I just have to keep a level head and not get panicked every time I sneeze.

And now another off topic: There was a simsovision concert streamed live this morning and I think it's the best one ever. It's a sims Eurovision contest, where contestants from different sims towns compete with each other. Watch it and vote for your favorites over at the Russian forum! I use Google translate. Once the votes are in they have a final concert with performances by established stars and announce the results.

Lurk? Who, me? Um, yes, I've been lurking in this thread for a while, although maybe not always paying close attention.
I never started buying store stuff until about two years ago (almost exactly), so I've been catching up, slowly. I wasn't sure at first how much stuff, or how many points, I wanted to buy, so I started off just getting what I thought were the very best items. But as time went on, my list gradually expanded, as is probably true for a lot of people. So I bought a few more points, then more stuff, then more points, then more stuff... until there was a 50% off sale on SimPoints and I went ahead and got a massive pile.
I still have a little over 2k points left from that last bundle, which is not enough to cover all the sets I'm planning to get. There are something like 20 sets on my list where I've bought every item offered on the DD but can't get the set for free or close to it; in half those sets, I only need to buy between 100 and 200 points worth of stuff to get the set free. But I'm fine waiting and hoping for another similar points sale. In the meantime, I often play with Make Me an Offer to see if I can get a few items from those sets for free. I've completed a number of sets that way, although there's a lot of randomness.
I don't mind the slow pace because I haven't been playing much latelyโI'm currently into certain other gamesโand I already have more content than I'm ready to use. I think of the store stuff as a toybox of items that are waiting for me if and when I get bored or want something fresh to play with.
Anyway, this thread is still a great resource, as is the spreadsheet, and they've made my tracking and buying store stuff not only so much easier, but quite fun at times as well. And there are plenty of sets that I never would have considered at their full price, but once I saw the total cost when the Daily Deals and CYS were factored in, the prices were much more reasonable, and now I'm happy to have the items.
