@rnramey Regina, happy belated. I am so disappointed to be posting so late, but a friend died the other day. So, of course, everything is upside down.

Happy B-Day @rnramey ! Btw how old is everyone here? Greetings

Like Jodi, I was in my 30s when the game came out, and played it since day one. I'll be 54 in May.

Jodi, if you have any inclination of expanding on TS4, I recommend City Living. I have several EPs, but I found it the most helpful in transitioning from TS3. Going into the city center (whatever it's called) gave some sense of the open world for me. Alternatively, I enjoyed walking the dogs on the shore of Brindleton Bay.

THAT being said, I've pretty much abandoned the game and devoted myself to TS3 while I explore all the facets that I still haven't gotten to. I haven't properly explored Ambitions, Late Night, Showtime or University Life. And I've barely touched Island Paradise. For that matter, I have yet to visit France or even attempt nectar making. And, although I have Generations loaded for all my existing games, I've never played a senior Sim. So much Simming to do!

I own the store as of 1+7/17/17

@Jude525 am sorry that your friend passed away.. Well, my mom died Dec 2016 (3 days after my b-day) and my dad died end of Nov 2017... but there's always a reason to move on...

I always trying to build fancy houses but at the end i rarely plays intensively with my sims  Snap, enough to explore and to try. I think, i will never get bored by this game.

And everyone should play that game where he have the most fun with. Even if i hate Sims 4

@Jude525 - My condolences on your friend's passing. I hope you have a lot of happy memories of time spent with your friend to help get you through this time of sorrow.

I have been playing TS4 for a few hours. I can see the base game may be too bare to hold my interest. I was already trying to decide if I should buy an expansion or game pack to add a bit to the game. I had been thinking of City Living (25.99), Get to Work (25.99) or Dine Out (19.49). Then I noticed a bundle "City Living, Dine Out and Bowling" ($51.99). BUT now I am afraid if I purchase even one, I will be taking my thumb out of the hole in the dike. Rather than just spending $5 on a game I was okay not to own, I will want to get just one more EP, SP or GP. Before I know it, after spending a few hundred dollars, I will own the TS3 store *cough* I mean the entire TS4 collection and only use a fraction of what is included.

Like you Jude, I still have a lot TS3 to explore and re-explore. I am currently finishing up with achievements. I have just over 20 more to earn. Earning achievements has been a great way to experience features of the game I would never have tried based on my own preferences of play.

For anyone who owns TS4, which of the three City Living, Get to Work or Dine Out will offer the most game play that has replay appeal. I have a few more days to decide. I am not leaning towards the bundle since I barely use the bowling alleys in Sims 3.

@goodFeel93 - Origin sale is for 50% for the expansions. Where are they on sale for 75% off?

Welcome to the DD thread @FouWTigris26463. I am definitely leaning towards City Living. I just watched a Sim Supply YouTube video ranking all the EPs, SPs and GPs and now I think I want City Living and Parenthood. Three more days to decide.

Thanks for the link. That sale is advertising the Origin sale. The 75% simscommunity is referring to is for the base game. The expansions are 50% off. On the US/Canada Origin site, the base game is 88% off.

ETA - I appreciate you pointing out the sale so I can get the best savings :cookie::)

@me1620, As I've said, of the EPs I own, City Living did the most for increasing my interest and playability of the game. I do also have Dine Out, Get to Work, Outdoor Retreat, Get Together and Pets. Oh, and I recently bought Movie Hangout Stuff on sale, but don't remember playing that content yet at all.

Oh wow. I have invested A LOT in a game I don't play. Granted, I didn't pay full price for anything, but still. Even at half price, that adds up.

Dine Out is also pretty cool. Besides providing another way to get out of the house and socialize on community lots, it also provides the option to own and manage a business. I have kind of enjoyed running a restaurant.

Get Together provides the social networking features. Kind of an expansion from the features that came with TS3 uni. Only in a considerably more concrete and interactive format. Instead of having random social interactions that raise your cred, you actually organize specific social events and participate in selected activities as a group. I've seen some good reviews on YouTube for this, but found the system so complex and so flexible that I kinda got lost and overwhelmed. But I certainly saw potential for the right player.

Pets is Pets. Besides adding the obvious, it allows yet another business type to own. The veterinary clinic. I have not done this, so don't know if it is anywhere near as rewarding as running a restaurant. Reminder, in TS4, you do not have direct control over pets. It is back to TS2 style play. You need to observe your animal to see if their needs are being met.

Outdoor Retreat was my first pack, and I hated it. But I learned that it was due to some major bugs that were later fixed. I have played the content since and found it more enjoyable.

Like Movie Hangout Stuff, I have not pursued Get to Work at all. Even though I have had it considerably longer.

So, that is a quick critique of all the packs I own and have played. My key advice, if you are going to invest in more, and I do advise you get at least one to make it acceptable, make it a pack that provides more interesting community lots. I suppose there are community lots that came with the base game, but I know they didn't do much for me.

Finally, my niece has recommended Seasons. If I were to spend any more on the game, it is clearly were I would go.

Oh, I should mention, Lazy Game Reviewer, who continues to grow weary of EA churning out Sims content, did have nice things to say about Bowling Night Stuff when it came out. Maybe take a pop over to YouTube and check out his review there. So maybe City Living, Dine Out and Bowling isn't a bad bundle to start with.

Thank you all for your condolences. Today was the funeral. A smaller and more intimate event than I'd anticipated. My sisters and I talked about it and realized that, at 89, most of her contemporaries are either passed or don't get out easily. Her husband had passed years ago, as had her daughter. It is just her son and his two children left.

Looking at the size of the gathering made me aware of why her son Jack was so eager to accept our help organizing the funeral plans. In spite of my belief system being far from my Catholic roots, it was immediately important to me to participate today. I did so out of a respect for Claire and my love for her. What amazed me was that, while I am normally uncomfortable being back in a church, today was comfortable and soothing. I felt her and my mom's presence the whole time. At one point, I even thought I heard her distinctive laugh. The rest of the day went so smoothly after that.

I am of an age now that I lose people more and more regularly each year. Mostly to their age. Which is certainly easier than the alternative, although I have lost younger friends as well. Most of these people lived well, and that makes things easier. Claire was one. Excepting these past several years after the stroke, she lived an amazing life.

It is difficult for me to feel sorrow for long when remembering people like her, my mom, my aunt Rose. Heck, even my aunt Lena (not always my favorite, but still.) These people brought so much joy and laughter into my life. I try to keep these memories in my mind when I find myself saddened by their absence. I do still cry, but often while smiling.

I hope you don't mind my wandering thoughts. (Oh heck, I know you don't.) I wanted to share that this was not just loss, but a remembering of joy.

@Jude525 - I don't mind your wandering thoughts at all. If we only discussed the DD, this thread would not feel like a group of friends. I have attended 4 funerals in the last 5 weeks. One funeral was for one of my favourite aunts. All four funerals were for people in their late 80s or early 90s. The eulogies were a celebration of their lives. While it is hard to lose people, as you said, good memories help to make us smile as we remember them and of their lives well lived.

Thank you for your amazing reviews of the games. I have watched Sim Supply and TGRs reviews which have been helpful too. I have decided to buy City Living and wait for better sales for the game packs. I am going to be very selective with TS4. In making my decisions, I kept remembering your comment

... I recommend City Living. I have several EPs, but I found it the most helpful in transitioning from TS3. Going into the city center (whatever it's called) gave some sense of the open world for me. Alternatively, I enjoyed walking the dogs on the shore of Brindleton Bay.

THAT being said, I've pretty much abandoned the game and devoted myself to TS3 while I explore all the facets that I still haven't gotten to. ....
After playing TS4 for a few more hours, I find it strange that a lot of the neighbourhoods are painted backdrops that aren't even rabbit holes or community props that my sim can stroll past. I still enjoy having the camera follow my sims while they drive or walk through my sims 3 worlds. I think I will enjoy walking along the shores of the bay. It will be without a pet though.

I am going to hold off looking at the other packs I was considering. Like you I still have many facets of TS3 to explore. Maybe Sims 4 will appear on Steam for excellent sale prices.

Thanks again for your comments and advice. :*

If anyone is interested, I just bought a copy of the 2014 Warner Brothers Godzilla and have a digital copy code I can't use. This is the prequel to Kong Skull Island and the upcoming King of Monsters.

I bought the UK 3D combo pack because it was cheaper than the BluRay, and I have a 3D player. (My next TV will be 3D, so I take the deals where I can find them.)

Anyway, I can't redeem the code here in the States. People used to be able to get around the restrictions with a virtual IP address, but they caught on to that trick and have locked us out somehow. Probably the country our account is registered in, rather than where we are signed in while claiming the movie.

Also, it claims to have expired in 2017, but that doesn't always apply. I figure someone might as well take a go at it. I know I redeem "outdated" codes all the time. Especially with (Disney) Movies Anywhere. Which I don't think y'all have outside the US, yet.

So, if anyone is interested, just let me know. I don't want anything for it.

DD update - Deals are now commencing at 35 minutes after the hour.

Deal 101, A Little Layered, began with a duration of exactly 2 hours. Hopefully, the deal start times will not jump ahead for a while.
