Or just wait after check-in and see what I come up with

Pictures of finished builds will be available on my Showcase thread and I will let you know once available for download.

Preferred builder* (If none, leave blank):
Type of build (Modern, Traditional, Victorian, Gothic, etc. or leave blank): Rustic Cottages? I don't actually know what to class it as, sorry!
Which EPs and SPs do you have? World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Supernatural, Seasons and Island Paradise. Stuff packs are High-End Loft, Fast Lane, Outdoor Living, Town Living, Master Suite and Diesel stuff
If you have Showtime, which edition do you have (basic, Limited, or Katy Perry)?
    Lot size (dimensions): 64x64
Number of bedrooms: I've tried to explain it better further down, but the general idea for this lot is that its a mini avenue of houses, like a cul-de-sac. I'm hoping for five houses in total and each house should have at least two bedrooms. Some need more depending on the particular sims' traits and lifetime wishes etc, but I've tried to write it all down better on the next question
Specific instructions on decorating the bedrooms (gender, age, etc.)? So for house one, two bedrooms is plenty enough since the sim is pretty happy single for now. She likes soft pastel colours and she's originally from Sunlit Tides and loves the ocean, so I was hoping for a nice coastal theme throughout her whole home. For the second house, its for a married couple with a young toddler boy; so for his room I was thinking something typically boyish but also with a cute little reading corner. I really love the bookcases from the Generations pack. The main bedroom here should be something couple friendly, no particular design or colours come to mind right now. A third bedroom in this house would be great so they can have another child eventually, but its no big deal if that's not possible. For the third house, the whole house but especially the bedroom should be something suitable for a single male sim; I'm sort of imagining some car related things and stuff to identify a bachalor lives here, not a family man. So dark greys, blues would be nice here I think. The spare bedroom here could be a storage room with a spare bed or left completely empty, I find it hard to imagine it would ever be needed as a nursery anyway. For the fourth house, two rooms again is enough but the second should be a nursery suitable for either gender. The master bedroom should have tones of yellow (maybe throughout the house too) and if there's room I'd love a few comfy chairs placed near the windows for the sims to sit and relax together in privacy. And for the last house, three bedrooms would be great but preferably I'd like them all on the second floor in this house. It's for a single mom and a young toddler girl; so the girl's room should have a play area or some kind of a play room made downstairs. The mom's room should be something cosy and warm colours to relax in.
Number of bathrooms: A full bathroom in each house please - master suites, half bathrooms are up to the builder
Favorite color schemes: I like soft tones; light pinks, blues, beiges, greys etc
Colors you dislike: I'm not a fan of bright green or bright orange, but I get that this overall lot will have lots of different colours in it since each sim is so different.
Do you want it furnished and decorated? Yes please
Can patterns from Create-a-Pattern be used? Yes
Please list the Store content that can be used: I actually have most Store items but to try and help my game run smoother, I'd like to try and keep to as little Store content as possible.
Please list the Dr. Pepper and T-Mobile promotional items that can be used: I never understand this one
If you will be placing this lot in an EA world, which one? It's actually a private world but its very very similar to Twinbrook in terms of terrain colours and overall landscape
Link to specific house or plan:
Special requirements (garden, pool, hot tub, etc.)? I've tried to explain as best as I can; the overall idea is a little cluster of English cottage type homes, all on one lot. Ideally I don't want just a row or block of them, I'd like them to be in a curve around a driveway or scattered in some way. If possible a parking area outside each house or some proper parking space on the overall lot would be great. If each house can have a garden or a fenced yard of some kind, that would be great too, especially for the family homes. For the fourth house, it would be great if a few buydebug plants can be put into a little greenhouse or gardening patch for the sims. And for the first house with the coastal theme, a nice BBQ area would be great too. The last house for the single mom and young girl, a nice big kitchen workspace would be nice, she's quite advanced in the cooking skill.
Is communication required before the builder begins work? Not at all, but I imagine the builder might have a question or two when they start. I usually try and log in here every day so I'm usually around to get back with answers
Additional instructions? Thank you to whoever takes on this request

Hi @Storietime , here's a WIP of the last cottage. This one has 3 bedrooms for your single mom with a female toddler with a large kitchen/dining combo and play room downstairs. Downstairs is done however I'm still working on the upstairs when I can chip away at it. Slowly getting closer

    Sept 15/18
Hi @Storietime , here are some WIPs of Brun Cottage. This one is made for your married couple with a young toddler boy incl the little reading corner you requested in his bedroom. Unfortunately there isn't room for a third bedroom but you can rearrange the furniture and add another crib / bunk bed in the boys room if they have another child. There are 2 ensuite bathrooms upstairs and a half bathroom downstairs for guests.

My tester sim taking out her frustrations on the tree... jk, I blended the martial arts thingy for any athletic sims

    Some interior shots..

@Storietime , some WIPs of Mello Yello cottage lol. Let me know if to remove some of the yellows. This one has 2 bedrooms - 1 master and 1 nursery and 2 bathrooms. A ladder leads to a large attic that you can utilize for anything you need. I'll add plants to the garden from buydebug at the end.
    [edited to remove WIPs]

I couldn't resist a pic of my testers taking an evening break from upgrading while I looked away
    [edited to remove WIP]

And the playground is also finished. That's it for now. Will be working on the cottage you see below. Hope to have more WIPs next weekend

Hi @Storietime , below are WIPs of the cottage for the single male sim. There is another bedroom upstairs which I've just added a pool table. You can convert this later as you wish. There is also a full bathroom upstairs along with a chess table. I've used blues and greys as requested and also added browns to tie everything in. Let me know if there is anything you don't particularly care for.

    Aug 27/18
@Storietime , not sure if I'm sharing too much lol. Anyway I've completed house one. This one is for the single female sim who loves the ocean. It's simple and cosy since just a little cottage. There is only one bathroom which I hope is OK. You requested soft pastel colours which I've reflected in the bedrooms, however I've added in brighter ocean colours along with sandy browns in the main areas. If you prefer I tone down the brighter colours just let me know. Also, let me know if you like this level of WIPs / updates as I go along or would you prefer I perhaps show one pic per cottage interior and keep the rest hidden to the end
    [edited to remove WIP]

PS: I've cleaned out the spoiled food in the fridge since I took the screenshot so don't worry about that. Also all appliances have been upgraded. Each of the chimneys will also be upgraded to fireproof.

    Aug 24/18
Hi @Storietime , which roof on the left do you prefer... A or B? I was thinking the pagoda would look better curved down, however that would mess up the little cottage in the middle.
    [edited to remove WIP]

And here is the last house on the lot along with WIPs of the overall view. As you can see I added a playground and other activities as well as a gazebo for community dancing and a simple wedding arch. If you prefer more open space between lots I can delete any of this. Thoughts or changes before I start on the insides?
    [edited to remove WIP]
PS: I'll likely enclose the chimney since the colour does stick out.

    Aug 22/18
@Storietime , would you prefer I stick with neutral colours for all the exteriors (eg browns, greys, creams, whites as in WIP1)… or would you prefer I recolour each exterior to reflect the colour scheme of the interior, e.g. optional WIP below?
    [optional image removed]

    Aug 16/18
@Storietime , a check-point before I get further. Created a few shells and rough landscaping. The cottages will be scattered around the lot. Generally speaking, is this the kind of look you are envisioning? Anything you would prefer I change?

You're welcome emma. I'll be touching base with you once the shell is ready before I start work on the insides since it's a large build and will take some time :)

    ok no problem! :D
  • soocoolsimsoocoolsim Posts: 2,845 Member
Hi @emma1293 , just touching base to assure you I've been working on your build. I have the floor plans laid out based on your detailed specs... am just fussing with tweaking the front exterior. Once I'm happy with the exterior frame I'll work on the interior furnishings.

Modern buildings run the gamut from ultra modern to more of a blended look so I'm open to sharing WIP photos with you as touch points to ensure my vision matches with yours OR if you prefer I can just work on my own and let you know once ready for download. Just let me know what you prefer :)

if it helps we could look at pictures of modern houses? or working on your own and show me what you have later and do tweeks ?

How to you feel about this (honestly)? I will be tweaking a lot and adding the pool, landscaping, etc. as I go along... just touching base to see if this is kinda what you were thinking.

uh oh wow! that looks awesome... is that on a 60x60 lot?
  • emma1293emma1293 Posts: 42 Member
also could i say that i prefer the yellow to be like a beige/white?
  • soocoolsimsoocoolsim Posts: 2,845 Member
Glad you like the framework emma and great to hear your input.
Yes, on a 60x60 since it gives you more options for placement.
Absolutely we can change the colours... I'm going in-game now to tweak and finalize the floor plans since we're on the same page :)

  • emma1293emma1293 Posts: 42 Member
oh good good cos i tried to play on a 63x63 lot and my game crashed :( like right now for instance whilst i was playing haha, the framework is awesome!, how many bedrooms are there? are you gonna take a pic of the floor plans?

I'll take pics of the floor plans once I finalize all the walls. You'll see I have a few objects in the rooms... this is just for me to remember what I'm using them for and sometimes to estimate how much room I'll need. Once I get into décor I'll touch base with you again.

OK, here we go... I've changed the colour and also started to add in some of the architectural details. Let me know if you don't like the group of L-shaped pillars in front. After this check-in the rest of the exterior (including the back) will be a secret until final reveal, ok :)

[edited to remove WIP - Photobucket issue]

I just noticed a wall I need to recolour... no worries, all will be checked before the final..

7 bedrooms... I'm putting in everything you asked for, even the cinema

edit: Before I go much further I'll double-check everything I've used so far you own and replace if needed.
BTW... you said in your form we could use anything from the store... does that mean you own all the store items?
  • emma1293emma1293 Posts: 42 Member
that looks even awesomer! but the rounded wall (front of house) colours don't seem right? what do you think? and yea i kinda dislike the L shape walls sorry!, im really not sure if i have the store items do you know which ones they are?
  • soocoolsimsoocoolsim Posts: 2,845 Member
NP sweetie, removing the L-shaped pillars is a simple thing. My only concern is that the white may look too stark but if you prefer a really clean look, it may work for you. For the rounded wall, we can try a few things... I can change it to white or use one of the brown colours using a flat paint, or I can switch the pattern from horizontal to vertical. Another option is to add windows. I'll post some pics later on and you can choose one of them.

I'm going to use base game and the EP/SP items as much as possible but if you have stuff from the store it opens more options.
I don't see anything on your wish list. Do you have the Bauhaus building collection?

While I'm working on finalizing the floor plans, perhaps you can take a look online and if you find any décor photos of a few rooms you really, really like, just post the links here. Not so much that I'll duplicate, but it will give me a sense of the kind of style you like. TTFN.
