    Time Bug

    When I play TS3 at University town I have a strange time bug: The time stops for me but actually it continues in the background. (For example the time says 5.45 a.m. for about five real life minutes.) Plus my Sims freeze from time to time. The result is they miss their classes.
    Can you help me?
    Did you experience this bug yourself and found a solution? Please share it with me.

    I play the game on Win 7. I have the base game plus EPs (all except ITF) and SPs (all except 70s80s90s) installed.
    I have Twallan's Overwatch, Traveler and Master installed.

      Has this Uni World been used a lot within this game or is it a relatively fresh one? Except for the gap in the sidewalk near the Stadium/Annex which usually only causes problems around a crowded graduation ceremony, I've had very few issues playing there and the Uni World in my ongoing game has been through tons of semesters. Do the homeworlds in this game play okay?

      Maybe we need to see a dxdiag to rule out obvious system related issues first.

      The Uni World has been used for many semesters. The homeworld plays just fine.

      Well, without the dxdiag mentioned we can't really blame or rule out system issues.

      If the Uni World used to work better than this but now it doesn't, perhaps run MC on the Admin Bldg (since there is no City Hall in that world, Admin is the substitute) or on an in-game computer to see how many students and other assorted sims you have in play there.

      NRaas > MC > Demographics > Population > "X" to dismiss the filter, look for Residents and Homeless
      NRaas > MC > Demographics > Career Summary or Jobs by Career > "X" to dismiss the filter, look for number of Uni Students

      Another thing to check, open the folder on your current, most recent save in your game folder (Documents\EA\TS3\etc.) and look for Uni World's nhd file. It should be called "Sims University {some goofy hex codes}.nhd". How large is that file in MBs?

      Oh and of course...since you have MasterController, you could use it to reset the world while there and that might help. On the Admin Bldg or an in-game computer, NRaas > MC > Town > Reset Everything

      That will take a few minutes to run and will reset every sim, object, lot, and building in the world.

      Did the MC reset do any good or is the game still freezing and lagging?

      I would probably use MC to Totally Annihilate (TA) the homeless acrobats, singers, and magicians unless you and your sims know and like any of them. It's really annoying when those keep spawning needlessly, especially in Uni World where they really aren't intended to be. Some of them, maybe not all 38, might regenerate. The rest of those stats and the file size don't really look out of line.

      If you are still having the issues, on the dxdiag that would be all of it. You would have to break it up into several smaller pieces to copy/paste since it won't all fit in one post. There isn't any private information showing in those unless your computer or one of your hard drives happens to be carrying your own full name, and if that's the case you can just XXX that out in the posts.

      Sorry that didn't help, then. Your processor is fine and you have 4 GB of RAM, which is a bit tight for the later EPs in TS3 but still shouldn't be making a world like Uni unplayable.

      But there is something odd about your graphics card model. It rates a "No" on the base game and ALL EPs with no explanation as to why on this chart.

      It could be that your computer is not making proper expected use of your graphics card then, which puts extra stress on your game, and there is something about this Uni World in its current state that combined with the above is putting things over the edge and now making gameplay not possible there.

      I would prefer that the other Tech Responders see your report and comment though. There might be something you can do with that card and its drivers that will improve things. Or they might know why this one stands out amongst its peers with the solid "No" rating for TS3.

      If all else fails, one thing you could do when back in your sims' homeworld is delete the Sims University.nhd file entirely from a copy of (in case this doesn't work out) your ongoing save. On your sims' next trip to Uni, a new fresh version of the world will generate. Unfortunately everyone will lose any friendships and relationships with those in your current Uni World, the new one will contain all of the sims that the original Uni World did the first time you played there at their original ages, and you will lose any changes you have made to the world itself through Edit Town and Build/Buy. How upsetting these things would be to your gameplay would be up to you to determine. But it might be worth a try as a test, at least, even if you decide not to play forward that way.
