Can I reinstall the sims4 without loosing my current households

I had some issues with my pc last night and had to refresh. First when I tried to run the sims4 there was an error so I tried to repair it, then it downloaded something but I still got the same error, don't remember error. Anyway, I figured I should reboot my computer maybe that would help and also earlier I had a windows update that I don't think finished and my computer couldn't recover, I had to do a refresh and all my apps are gone. So bottom line I'm reinstalling the game and I want to know will my old sims still be there or what?

Do you still have your sims folder in documents or did the game get wiped out? If yu still have your sims 4 folder in documents pull that to desktop, start the game and see if it will work. You can then replace the new sims 4 folder in documents with the one you pulled to desktop

Yes you mean the entire "The Sims 4" folder, yes I pulled it out but which specific folder has my sims in it? The game is still downloading. Thanks for the help.

Follow the advice you've already been given.
Also I reckon the incomplete OS update accidently affected this.
By any chance was it the 8 to 8.1 upgrade or the 8.1 & 7 to 10 upgrade?
I suspect this may be the prob.

yes the same applies to the sims 3. Not sure about two since I never encountered this issue with two but maybe someone else can answer.

No it wasn't either upgrade, it was an update, at least I don't think so. I have 8.1 and it's still 8.1 so. Yes I think that probably caused it also.

The windows 8 to 8.1 issue happened in Febuary and at the moment no one is being forced to 10

Windows 8.1 just had a regular update
