I actually wonder if they can create a world that can be both residential (where sims can live), and a vacation destination (where they can visit), or if not, the ability to add rentals, or other forms of lodging such as B&Bs and hotels for residential neighbourhoods. If they do do a beach town, I guess I would like somewhere different to the usual Californian beach town - perhaps somewhere like a New England/Cape Cod/Cabot Covesque in appearance (perhaps they can add a small chance of death by seagull when eating outdoors).
Also, I would like to see some Oasis Springs expansion á la Newcrest and Magnolia Promenade. Perhaps a casino Vegas/Lucky Palms downtown, and a Strangetown/Area 51 boondock, as well as a tract suburb.
I like the beach world idea, it would be cool if they added it to be blank like Newcrest. I've really enjoyed having a blank canvas to be able to do what I want.
An old Dutch community style near the ocean. A little bit of fantasy mixed with a little bit of modern. And more than 15 lots. I also want a big park I the centre like we have with OR and WC.
Better yet. Give me the tools to make my own world.
I agree, I would like my own tools to make my own neighborhood and also edit my lot characteristics. I hate waiting for EA/Maxis to give a few lots.

I also like the idea of being able to make my own neighborhood and being able to customize the characteristics like Goldmoldar said. *edited to fix spelling

I see that :) thanks. Oh and I just realized I completely messed up the spelling of your name. I apologize Goldmoldar! I feel awful for messing it up like that.
I would love a seaside world or a big island in the middle of an ocean where sims either take a boat or plane/helicopter to and from it. A jungle like world would be kind of neat, too. I'm not crazy about massive metropolis worlds if there's lots of rabbit holes... I'd rather keep to the smaller worlds and have lots you can really interact with.
Definitely a city! Tall buildings, apartments, lots of night life.... come to think about it, isn't it time for a Late Night type expansion?
Kevin VanOrd of Gamespot gave this game a 6/10. Despite praising the visuals, audio, and the new multi-tasking and moods system, he states that he misses the 2 main features of The Sims 3: "Create-a-Style" and the open world. His conclusion is "The Sims 4's biggest problem is that The Sims 3 exists"

I for one really loved Island Paradise! I would love to see something like that back in the game. The could really make it gorgeous with Sims 4

There are some cool beaches with green and black sand too.
I didn't see the green beach one since it's a bit of a hike to get to, but the black sand beach was an amazing sight to see.
My parents did build a house in Cape Cod style which was cool.
Here is a cool Cape Cod beach:
But yeah I'm a sucker for California beaches since I was born in one.
This is a cool beach feature I've seen too.
I am trying to figure out the floor plans to build this house which is beach themed.

Farming (with Pets)
Downtown (with TS2 style aprtments)
Fantasy (Dark Ages/Medievil style like the Dragons town from TS3)
Tropical Island
I want the downtown with apartments first -- I don't want to get Pets until we have toddlers (if we're getting them) otherwise we might not have toddler interactions with pets (like pulling tails to get into mischief, etc.). And downtown would make more sense for our current Sim households, both young adults just starting out and elders who are downsizing and letting one of their kids take over the house. I also want it to be a livable world, not a destination world like Granite Falls but make it where Sims could go there on vacation if they lived somewhere else, but could also move there. (If that doesn't make sense it's almost 1am here and I need my beauty sleep...)

Edit: Omg why is beach-y a bad word? Why?!

oh- and CAW. I definitely want CAW.
And, for them to stop giving us 20x15 lots.
