Hi Lucy and anybody who may be interested,

I've finally ... after a lot of umming and ahing ... decided to start a post about my wip world as Lucyena one of my most wonderful TS3 friends has kindly offered to build some homes for this endeavour even though she has got no idea what I am working on.

This project begun over 2 years ago when EIG just kept crashing CAW and turned my 'alien' world into a supernova so much so that I feared I had lost it for good.
I recently got CAW working again due to a reinstall of my TS3 games and a decision to limit my store content ... so I thought I'd give Betelgeuse another go.

I have used the rabbit-holes and other items that came with Lunar Lakes, all EPs except Island Paradise and SPs except Movie + Sweet Treats and still a fair amount of store stuff especially items from the Futureshock sets.
Choice of plot sizes to build on are 20x20, 20x40, 30x20, 30x30 and 40x40

I never build for a world like Lunar Lakes before but now I am very inspired and it will be a pleasure to attend to your project. I love your Bistro at the End of the Universe! Did you read the books of Douglas Adams?

Hello Hidehi I hope that you don't mind me posting here. I just wanted to say that Betelgeuse looks very great! The sculpting of the terrain looks so very great! It looks very nice how you have used the alien fantasy trees in the world! The Bistro at the End of the Unverse and Kepler Park builds look very great! Sims will enjoy performing at the park or watching performances there.
It is exciting that you are creating your own world!

I'm afraid I have not read the books by Douglas Adams but I watched his TV series 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' several times and some names have been chosen because of it. x

I thought that you could be interested to hear that I am building already a small home (20x20) for your world . I have a lot of fun and I hope that I am able to complete and upload it soon! The build keeps me away from my housework .

I give you a little wip of it. I think I will name it Sirrah.

Sirrah is very nice! @Lucyena The fantasy trees there look great! The plants and water fountain features at the front of the home are very nice! The exterior design of the home is very nice! It looks great how you have placed the solar panels on the roof. It looks nice the types of windows that you have used in the build .
The home suits the world well!

I'm posting here as well , that you can use the build freely (i wouldn't mind a little mention in the description or something similar, but its not really necessary) So help your self , and can't wait to see more pictures from your world

I haven't been able to spend as much time in Betelgeuse as I would like ... so progress is rather slow.
But I've managed to take a picture of the Zephir 47 in situ and I think it looks pretty cool!

you are very welcome I'm glad you like it. Even though the rest of my lots don't really fit with the theme of your world, feel free to use any you like for this or future worlds.
CAW is very time consuming. And sometimes there aren't enough hours in a day to fit everything. Besides the longer a world takes to be completed, the better the result. Rushing stuff may make someone overlook the tiniest detail , that can cause horrible lag or other issues. So don't worry about slow progress, its def for the best. Take your time , and enjoy creating

The world is looking so very nice! The fantasy trees look very great in the world! It looks so great how the trees are placed in the world! The colours of them in both the daytime and the evening pictures looks so nice! The different levels of the landscape looks great! Your terrain work creates such a great look to the world! The buildings look great! Very nice peaked mountains! The layout of the world looks very nice.

Oh, what a cute world this is! I agree, taking one's time with a world is sometimes the best approach. I've been working on mine for eons (didn't work on it for a few years, though) and am now slowly working on getting it finished. I've discovered that checking and rechecking routing can be a very slow and tedious process but it's better to spend the time doing it right than to end up with an unplayable world later.

I couldn't help but notice what you said about limiting your store content to make CAW work okay. I have problems with that too so what I've done is have two instances of my game, one I use for playing and the other for building and testing things. To set it up all you have to do is rename your The Sims 3 folder in the My Documents section of your game then run the launcher and a brand new instance will be created. Then you can put any necessary mods in that instance and you'll have a much faster load for building and testing as well as much less trouble with CAW. If I use my play game for CAW it takes forever for CAW to load and exit plus the metadata crashes at a ridiculous rate, like about every other time I try to use the search function on it. Having a build version also gives me a mostly mod-free environment to make sure everything is functioning as it should be. I do have a few mods in it like Master Controller, Overwatch, Debug Enabler and Error Trap plus a few more I find necessary because those will let me know about problems I might otherwise miss, but otherwise it's a clean game.

I have finally taken Betelgeuse out of hibernation again and although it's nowhere nearing completion I thought I'd dig out this thread and post a few screenshots of my latest builds.
It seems to be progress at a snail's pace but I am determined to finish this world in the not too distant future

The builds look so very nice! The exterior designs of Babelfish Terrace, Don't Panic Firestation and Beeblebrox's Tavern look very great! Very nice roofing in each of the builds and the type of and placement of the windows in the builds looks very nice! The solar panels look great on the fire station roofing, and it looks great that there is a helipad on the top of the fire station tower. Nice outdoors dining area in the Firestation build for sims to enjoy cooking meals on the grill and eating them at the picnic table in the outdoors air. The alien trees surrounding the tavern bullding looks great! Very nice rooftop patio for sims to enjoy sitting relaxing in the sunshine on the loungers.
The world is looking very great!

This is adorable! Sorry if that's not the description you were going for, but I think it fits.

If you've never read Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I highly recommend it. He's one of the most entertaining authors I know, and I enjoyed the books even more than the TV episodes I saw on PBS (Public Broadcasting Station in the US - that's usually where I catch any of the fabulous English shows).
