And once again, @Bonxie <3 picks up the Cheerleader's "slack" :) ... @wickedangell666 I was going to tell you that Deaderpool is VERY easy to talk to. He doesn't mind questions.

Gets a little tired of the SAME question being asked over and over again (people don't read, y'know... :p ), but, who wouldn't? He's nice.

I got distracted by a help question in another thread, new player to modding having broken cc issues. You know me and new players, had to try to help.

Edit: btw, if you're using MTS mods, you've already registered there. Just go to the comments link in @Bonxie 's post. :)

Thank you again. I just found out I do have a registration but it was made a while ago so my username is different, I might get a new one. I understand you get lots of questions and so does Deaderpool, so is okay :)

:) He's a saint. I don't handle annoyance nearly as well as he does. Haha!

TBH mine usually originates IRL and might escalate over something posted, though... I'm human. <shrug> The posts that bother me on their own generally fall into the "if you can't say something nice..." category, not rerun question posts.

I do have a lot of patience for new mod/game questions, but if I don't have a lot of TIME (work weeks, like this one), I'm more inclined to be a little more abrupt, like, go read this <link>. You know? Rather than dress it up with a wall of sunshine and roses text. Which I love to do when I DO have time. Wait till next week. LOL!

This is how I look at it. There are 13,000+ posts now in MC's comments. Unless it's totally new behavior (following a game patch or mod update), there's a pretty good chance my question may have already been asked. If you have a decent term/keyword, try the comments Search box, too. You might get lucky.

However, I was looking earlier for something about the "Pregnancy_AgeToRun": "A,YA,T,E", setting and did NOT find the post just by using Pregnancy in the box. So, it's pretty string-specific, just wanted to mention that.

I'm not saying don't ask your question. I am saying, everybody going there should browse at least the page you land on. Lately we've seen a LOT of people asking a question after Deaderpool had just answered it a post or two beforehand. *I* would find that annoying. Glad y'all don't do me that way here. :)

Edit: And if you DO this, and find your answer, I bet a "came here for help, found it in (link) post, thanks!" post would probably tickle him. :)

    Work prep approaches...

Is good to know he wouldn't mind me asking stuff; I'm also glad you took your time, even though you are a busy person, to take a look at my post and answer it; I agree on the fact that nobody should say something in a rude way, etc; I always try my best not to drive people over the edge when I have a question because after all they're answering to help ME, right?
I'm looking forward to maybe buying GTW so I might ask more than I usually would now, especially because origin is having a sale, but I usually search all the answers before even saying anything. :)

Here's something random, if you notice Jasmine having a love affair with your mailbox, that is NOT mod influenced. DP saw it and took MC out to see, it's definitely happening vanilla. More coding brilliance. <shrug> At least she's only temporary.

@wickedangell666 Just let Deaderpool know that you're new to MTS and the thread when you ask your first question(s). There are 13027 posts in that thread as of this post here. So he probably won't mind a repeat question or two from you. However, please do read everything on the description page, it will help answer a lot of first time questions. Also, he provides a troubleshooting guide and users guide (pdf format) in the all modules download, and they come in real handy too. And .... he updated today ...... @egwarhammer and Deaderpool are both really great at helping us.

    Hello everyone!
I am thinking of downloading this mod but since i never downloaded any mods ever i am sceptical and i need your insight!
Will this mod cause any damage to my current save if anything goes wrong with an update from EA?? What if i download it and play it and save my game and after some time i want to take it off my game will this affect my save file? Will i be able then to play my save without it??
I am in fear of ea updates and compatibility with the mod. Do i have to wait for someone to say it is ok to enable it again to play? And each time i download a new version do i delete eveything from the folder and paste the new version or do i keep some things??

I don't want to end up with a corrupted or damaged save :s please help!

Mods are one of the best ways to manage your game, thankfully we have an incredibly clever creator! Your save file will be fine, I have never had a problem with this mod and save files, even when I took it out.

Every patch you have to download a new one because the script and such changes slightly and minor changes must be made, saying that I just usually overwrite everything, not keep much stuff, your options that you set remain there and do not have to be set up again. (At least for me...) If you open your game with it un-updated it will be fine just won't work, anyways most of the time EA disables mods every new patch until you set up the option again though the options menu.

Although I don't know everything (So others reading this please confirm or not) I hope this helped a little!

Hey guys, MC 2.14.0 (and woohoo, get BOTH if you play with both) are up at their respective sites. :) He gave us something VERY cool in this mostly bug-fixing release... I'm not gonna tell you, but, here's the post...

    http://modthesims.info/download.php?p=5076883#post5076883

Hint: check out the Last Line. <3

Anybody who needs the WH file that has trouble with the site, PM me. (Or if you have other reasons not to go.) Some I know, some I need reminded. Some of you are new, too. :) I don't care at all to share the link, just get your name on my list if you need to shortcut the site.

I'll be sending those messages in a couple of hours. School run incoming still, and I haven't installed the new files here yet, either, although I do have them downloaded. Busy morning incoming for the cheerleader, I love it!

@iriefthi MC is very safe. And well maintained. In fact, 2.14 is mostly bug fixes, based on reports we've given Deaderpool on 2.13. I'm about to go take my kid to school, but when I get back, I plan to dive into everything. @UniSims is mostly right, too. The biggest difference with MC is, some of HIS releases are just because he's finished it, not necessarily patch-dependent. So sometimes more than one game version will work with MC, and sometimes more versions of MC will work with the game. Not a big deal, considering he's usually hot on the trail of patch-related meltdowns. We've never done without at least some part of MC for LONG. <3

Who's got Twitter? Toss out a "MC/WH 2.14 is out!" for me, somebody? Rainy doesn't seem to be around. And I'd rather be doing this than Twitter. And it's REALLY time for me to get ready to go out again. Yay.

    BBL! (About an hour.)

    @loubyloulou I haven't seen your message but I saw it land, I gotcha if it's what I think. <3

ROFL! Ok so I'm no psychic this morning. Haha!!

Well, she doesn't slobber over it or anything, just keeps getting it in a thought bubble and walking over and talking to it and/or waving at it. I haven't seen it, but I'm sure glad DP checked it vanilla. Sounds pretty funny... for a minute.

I am going to be late. Shh! But, pass the word, if you want, about the update. Screenshot incoming once I have time to install the parts and take the picture.

    Friday chaos, check!

    I am so OUT! :p

Because that site is a pain. Clearing your cache is supposed to help, refreshing the page (a few times) is supposed to help, and clicking OTHER links on whatever page you can get to and then going back to the files page, may help.

It's been a big enough issue that DP put up a dropbox link on the Description Page. Can you get to that part at least? If not, no worries. Check your PMs. ;)

BTW, gang, I have sent the link out to everybody I know of or remember who has been interested. If you are, and you don't have a PM from me already, send ME one, so I can get you the link. :)

MC 2.14.0 installed... Couple of notes, though, if you add the other part you'll also have one more .package and .ts4script file than what's in the picture here. (That picture I posted to MC's comments.)

Also, you do *not* need to keep the 2 PDF files in your /MC folder. It won't hurt if you do, they aren't game files. But it won't matter if you move them out of there, either.

This is just the files. You may or may not also have various .log and/or .cfg (and .bak and info) files. If not, don't worry about it.

If this is not your first install, you can use your prior mc_settings.cfg file, and the mod will update any new areas when you load the game.

I recommend browsing through your settings with the computer UI, just to make sure everything is where you left it. Stuff happens. ;)

If you need any help or have any questions, let us know. :)

I just found out recently, those PDF files are also included with the main MC script&package file download. It shouldn't have surprised me... (but it did.) LOL! ( @Ulfric_Grimbrand didja know I put those together? ;) I was stoked to see them make "inclusion" status. ) UI guide needs some serious love, it's way out of date. Maybe I can do some on that next week when I'm off again. One of these days I'm gonna play this game, some, too...

I agree with reading the info under the spoiler buttons on the Description page. BUT, don't let it overwhelm you. There's a lot. It's okay to browse it and see where stuff is, how it's laid out, etc. You can always go back, and if you've looked around, you'll have a better idea of where to find your answer when something comes up.

I say this having recently had to dig up the Ancestral Household info... first stop was in the main settings, where flags info lives... nope. Found it under Population info, instead. ;)

Don't worry. There will be no problems.

MCCC is for the most parts a tuning mod, which means that only input parameters operating the game engine will be changed to gain a better behavior. It's like going twice from A to B, but in two different speeds - the result is always the same, no matter how fast or slow you are: you are in B and this is the desired outcome.

The famous relationship culling as an example: A full friendship bar represents a value of 100. If you play an unmodded game, let's say every sim hour one point of this value will be subtracted (1 per sim hour is only my assumption, but for this example the precise factor doesn't matter). If you save your game after 10 sim hours, the value will be 90. If you play the game modded with MCCC and with a relationship culling reduction of 50%, after 10 sim hours the value will be 95 instead of 90 - the friendship value decrease is slowed down. 95 is for sure a valid parameter for the relationship attribute. If you exit your modded game, remove the mod, and start it again, the game engine will recognize the value of 95 as a valid input and continues using it without any problems.

Almost every setting of the mod works in a similar way. This means nothing will be set to an invalid value and therefore having or not having the mod in the game makes no difference to the saved game.

I admit, this is a very poor way to characterize the functions of the mod and it's unfair towards Deaderpool to pretend that it is that easy. Please accept my apologies. The reality is of course much more complex and finding the balance between making the game more enjoyable without changing too much of the developers intentions is more than challenging. I only tried to simplify for the sake of better understanding.

As for the game updates: If you use a modded game, it's always a good idea not to update as soon as the patch is released by Maxis. Therefore, the best approach is to uncheck the automatic update options in Origin. Always wait until the mod creators (in MCCC case Deaderpool) announce, whether it is OK to patch or to wait for an updated mod.

    @Bonxie

    Beautiful!

I agree wholeheartedly that what you posted is a great way to do things. :)

Being me, the fearless MC Cheerleader, though, I tend to go for the "no guts no glory" approach (aka "go big or go home") following game updates. First, just for kicks, I'll fire it up with whatever I had before, in. (This led me to an epic bin meltdown following GTW, too... :p and the biggest LastException file I'd ever seen. :o )

Then, I'll clean everything out but MC, and try it that way. I won't play without MC anyway, so, if a patch is going to fireball something, I want to know about it so Deaderpool can get it fixed.

I really *don't* play this game like anybody else. I start over a lot, I don't really play generational. I actually never played more than 3 generations deep in Sims 2 either, and probably not even that deep in Sims 3. <shrug> I like rotating (playing wide), not playing the same family through the ages. That one game ended up having a spectacular black-patches-everywhere meltdown, btw.

I've always been good at breaking sims games. With 4, I seem to have added some talent for fixing them. Cool thing.

I need to get to bed, I'll check in this evening before work. 3 nights to go! And the weekend... I like my weekends. People are interesting.

Post any issues/problems, people will help. Which I SINCERELY appreciate! <3

I have two mod folders, two save folders and two tray folders in my user profile and I wrote a small piece of code to rename them before patching.

If I play 'the normal way' with all my mods and CC those three folders are mod, save and tray and the other three are mod_default, save_default and tray_default. The 'defaults' represent a vanilla game with an original save game. Before installing the patch I start my skript and rename the 'normal' folders to mod_custom, save_custom and tray_custom and the 'defaults' to mod, save and tray. So I can always switch between the modded and the vanilla state within the same game installation.

Like the others have said, it will not affect your save in any way. If you remove the mod, your game will return to the same functionality it had before the mod. When EA does an update, it is usually known pretty quickly if that update causes a problem. I try to get the problem resolved pretty quickly when there is one. Usually, it's only expansions that cause problems with my mod. Simple bug updates or Game Packs don't have any effect.

I love the mods. I can't imagine playing Sims without them.

I don't know if you take requests, but it would be super cool if we could have one-sided crushes. Like if one sim does the romance stuff, but the other doesn't reciprocate, then maybe Sims A would like Sims B more than Sim B likes Sim A. The romance bars would be different.

Thank you for all your amazing work!!

He does take requests, his TODO list is pretty epic, sometimes. If he says something's on TODO, you'll see me chill for a while about it. :)

Having said that, I don't think THIS particular request is something the game will let happen. Relationships seem to be totally even across the board between sims.

Of course, one time I did get a weird married couple (mismatched filters, someone said) with NO romance bars and red friendship bars. Real O.o thing. Haven't seen it before or since, I'd *guess* that may have been mod-conflict-induced, maybe. Who knows? Strange game.

@Deaderpool thanks for the flyby! :) Appreciate it. <3

So how's 2.14.0 working out for everybody? Any issues? I don't wake up fast (or sunny!), I won't have time tonight to take it for a spin.

Probably will in the morning, though. My next school run is likely not till Tuesday, so, that's off my plate for the next few mornings. :D

Fender-bender this AM meant finding a different route, luckily there are several ways to get places here. Interesting ride, I used a different route for both directions than my usual path.

Evening here is different too, hubby was forced to work because his manager isn't much of one. Boss got busted for being AWOL today, too, by district mgr. Good. >:)

Hoping for some "same" from work tonight, but Fridays are usually pretty interesting anyway. Just a "different" day all around, for me, I guess.

    Mostly random post... :p

@egwarhammer Only one for me, and while it was (remotely) related to MCC, I knew it could be an issue at some point anyway. @Deaderpool had mentioned it on the MTS Forums before the update related to another mod. Easy fix, I removed the other mod. I was only testing it anyway.

I was right about uneven relationships, can't be done with game setup. Deaderpool was nice enough to find the post from where he talked about it before, when I asked about it for you:
