Very strange problem...

Right so I am starting to get really annoyed with this. I have a couple, one is a detective, his husband is in the culinary career. However despite having full cooking skill, and always doing the daily task he can't make it past the second tier of the career! Why? Because either he doesn't even go to work or he comes back early. It's ridiculous! Whenever I play my detective's career, the other sim just randomly ignores work. His traits are Bookworm, Genius, Romantic and Domestic so he's really not a slacker either.
It's 🐸🐸🐸🐸 me off because to me it seems like there's a bug with the active careers making the other sims glitch out. And it's incredibly frustrating and annoying. I paid a lot of money for an expansion pack which now leaves me with the great option of either not using it or having single sims.
