Hello everyone
I thought that I would start a thread where Simmers who play Sims 3 can post pictures of rooms that they create based on a particular theme that is chosen for that week. There will be a theme given for the week, and during that week simmers can post pictures of their room that they have created that is based on that theme. Come to this thread and post pictures of your room! It will not be a contest where there is a winner. It will just be a thread where we can all come and enjoy seeing how other simmers design and furnish their rooms, based on the theme. Many simmers have lots of fun decorating the rooms of their homes. Your rooms will all be very warmly welcomed here! It will be interesting to see the different rooms that sims create based on the chosen theme! It will also give us new furnishing and design ideas! You can chat and make new simming friends here too!

I will not post any more room challenges, as I think that simmers prefer building homes or community lots.

Design and furnish your room, take pictures and post them here! You don't need to upload the room or the home that it is in to the Exchange. We will base the week from Wednesday morning 12:01 a.m. PDT to the following Tuesday midnight.
The theme for the week will be posted in the third post of this thread.
NO CC can be used in the rooms. All Sims 3 store, base game, EP and SP items can be used.
Cheats such as MOO and buydebug items can be used.
You can post your room any time through the week.

Some Helpful Information:
To post pictures of your room on the forum , set up an account at a free photo hosting site such as Photobucket , Flickr or use a site such as imgur and upload your screenshots from the game to your account or to the imgur site. Your photos will be in your screenshots folder that is in your sims 3 folder . Copy the link code of your photo from the photo hosting site , and then press the little file symbol that is above your post on the thread. Paste the photo code link there, then press enter. The photo link will then appear in your post. The picture will then appear when you press post comment.

Another way is to type [img][/img] in the post and put the image code in between them.

CURRENT CHALLENGE

NINTH CHALLENGE ( Due by Tuesday 5th May Midnight PDT )

The theme for the week is : A toy/play room

Heather and Harold are young children, and are sister and brother. They are moving to a new home! They are looking forward to making new friends in their neighbourhood! They plan to invite their new friends to their new home to play after school. Their Mother and Father said to them one day that they had a big surprise for them! The surprise was...they could have their own special toy room in the home! They could invite their friends there to play, as well as of course play there anytime they would like to! They are so excited! Their parents would be very grateful if you could design the toy /play room for them!
The rooms need to be posted by Tuesday 5th May Midnight PDT

First Challenge : Grandma's Kitchen (ended Tuesday 10th March )
Design a kitchen that a grandmother would enjoy cooking in!
Grandma Williams enjoys cooking in her kitchen. She often has her children and grandchildren come over and eat her home baked food. They always say it tastes delicious!

Second Challenge :
The theme was : The Annual Florist Dinner Party (ended 17th March )
Fiona is a Florist. She enjoys working with flowers and plants in her career as a Florist, and this is reflected in her home which contains a lot of flowers and plants. She is a bit concerned though, because this week is the "Annual Florist Dinner Party"... and it is her turn to hold the event! There will be Florists coming from everywhere in all the sims worlds and she is quite nervous! She wants her dining room to look very nice for all these Florists, and especially needs to contain flowers and plants.! They all enjoy eating in dining rooms where they are looking at flowers and plants. Fiona would be very happy if you could please create a dining room for her. She doesn't want the kitchen as a part of the dining room though. She likes to cook in her kitchen on her own, in a separate room, and then she doesn't need to worry if she makes a mess on the benches whilst cooking. She doesn't need you to design the kitchen, because that won't be on display.
She would like a dining room where she can host the Annual Florists Dinner Party.
I will look forward to seeing the plants and flowers themed dining room

Third Challenge (ended Tuesday 24th March)
The theme was : A Study for a retired gentleman
Colin is an elderly gentleman. He used to work as a clock and watch maker, but he has now retired from his work. He loves his wife and they are the best of friends, but sometimes he just wants to spend some time on his own in his own study. He would like you to design a study for him. He enjoys listening to music. He also would like to be reminded of his clock and watching making career whilst in his study.
Could you please design this study for Colin? He would be very grateful!

Fourth Challenge (ended Tuesday 31st March )
The theme was : A Wedding Reception Room.
Alison and Timothy are very excited! They are soon getting married! They have been planning all the details of the wedding, and what they are going to wear. They were just about to send out their wedding invitations... when they realised that they hadn't organised a room to hold their reception after the wedding ! They are getting married indoors at a Chapel, and so have organised the wedding ceremony area. They just need a reception room to go to after they have had their wedding photos taken, where they and their wedding guests can enjoy dining. Will they be able to dance there too? Or listen to music? They will leave that to what you decide to include!
Could you please design a reception room for them? They are so looking forward to their happy wedding day!

Fifth Challenge (ended Tuesday 7th April)
The theme was: A Dream Bathroom.
Katie always dreamed that one day she would have her dream home. It would be designed and furnished just the way she would like it to be. At the moment though, she is unable to have this dream home. But she has had a great idea! Although she can't have her dream home, she will instead renovate the bathroom in her own current home and make it just how she would like it to be! She would like it if you could design a dream bathroom for her! It can be any style of bathroom, and any colour scheme.Your idea of her dream bathroom may be different to another simmer's idea of Katie's dream bathroom, so it will be fun seeing how you approach the design and furnishing of the bathroom!

Sixth Challenge (ended Tuesday 14th April )
The theme was : "A Colourful Little Girl's Bedroom"
This room is for a little girl who has been in hospital having surgery and the hospital walls were white. She has now come home, and her parents have made her bedroom very colourful! The little girl likes lots of colours in her room! When she was in hospital, she had her favourite teddy bear with her to keep her company. This teddy bear needs to be in her bedroom! ( There can be more than one teddy bear in the room )

Seventh Challenge (ended Tuesday 21st April)
The theme for the week was : Twin teen boy's bedroom
John and Jeff are twin teen brothers.They are identical in looks, they have grown up wearing the same type of clothes, and they have names that both start with J! But... it is easy to tell them apart when you have been with them for a little while because they differ in what they like doing.
I will tell you a little bit about them. John likes to go to parties. Jeff prefers to stay at home, reading a book. They both enjoy listening to music, but John would prefer singing and dancing to the music whilst Jeff instead prefers to play the musical instruments. Jeff is very interested in science and outer space . John has lots of fun playing sports and spending time outdoors.
Their family has just moved to a new home, and the twins are going to be sharing a bedroom together. They would like a bedroom that suits both of them! Could you please design one for them?

Eighth Challenge ( Ended Tuesday 28th April )
The theme for the week was : A fruity kitchen!
Felicity is a gardener. She grows a variety of fruit in her garden. They taste delicious and very flavoursome! She makes yummy fruit salad in her kitchen! She enjoys spending time in her kitchen! What she would really like, is for her kitchen to resemble the colour of her fruits! Could you please design and furnish a kitchen room that is based on two fruits! The colour scheme of the kitchen will be based on these two fruits. It doesn't need to be fruit that is in the sims game. When you enter this week's challenge could be please also tell us what the two fruits are. I will look forward to seeing the fruity kitchens !

Oh this sounds fun! One suggestion would be to put in the week of, instead of numbering the weeks. That way one can know. Now to see if I can make the ultimate granny kitchen.

Hello @Morakai It is a great idea to put the week of for the challenge. I will start doing it that way from the second week, because this first challenge is a bit longer than a week because it started earlier than Wenesday. I will look forward to seeing your granny kitchen!

I love this Idea and thread Rose. I will try to play aroynd with this one but I'm not sure if l'll get it done in time. I will definitely be following along though. I do have a couple of questions too. Is there any limits on the size of this or any of the future rooms? Also, does it have to be a newly decorated room or can we post pictures of a room we've already done in a previous build that we're particularly happy with, that fits the description?

What a wonderful way to fill my new world with new homes. Since my newest creation has three communities in it, a mid-sized city, rural community, and a higher-income suburb community, I think I can fit the challenges into one of those communities that are desperately needing more homes. I will place this challenge on one of the farms that dot the countryside between the communities.

This sounds like a fun challenge, Rose.

Hello @Ivanna420 It would be great for you to join in when you are able to, or just come and have a chat. There is no limit on the size of the rooms. It doesnt have to be a new room, it can be a room in a build that you have already done that you feel suits the theme. It would be good to be a new room, but it doesn't have to be.

This sounds super fun, I can't wait to enter! It can take a long time to get even one room just how you want it, so it should be a very tranquil experience to focus on one room - compared to getting a whole build how I want it to look. I assume a breakfast table would be okay in the kitchen? I too am thinking about my grandma with this challenge, and her table being in the kitchen was kind of integral, but I don't know if you want dining in this challenge.

I would love to enter this, but i honestly have no clue how to even tackle something like this.

Unfortunately, i wasnt lucky enough to have any type of relationship/bond with either of my grandmothers. The first time that i spoke to my father's mother, was shortly before her death, because she chose not to have anything to do with me, my mother, or my brother because my mommy is black (even when my father was alive, their relationship was strained because of this ... she didnt even come to his funeral) and i didnt have any time with my mother's mother until a few years before she died, but even then, she was bedridden, so the only time i actually got to spend with her was when it was to feed/change her.

I've always been somewhat of an emotional cripple, so i didnt really feel that i missed out on that bond that other people, have with their grandmother's. Even when i see how my son interacts with my mommy, it just makes me happy to see how he loves her just as much as i do, but i've never been envious of it. Now, with that being said, this is my third time in this thread to see what some of you awesome people have come up with, and its making me anxious!! So hurry up and post something already!! LOL!

I think Grandma's kitchen is a great place to start.

Do you know I once did a challenge that had us make one room each week and we had to make all the rooms fit together in a cohesive build in the end?! Talk about a challenge! That was fun.
