No Science carpool for Mad Scientist in Monte Vista

I recently got Monte Vista and decided to try it out by moving one of my families there. The head of the family is a Mad Scientist (top level of Science Career) and never had any trouble getting to work in Sunset Valley. However, the carpool never comes for him. He has to take his regular car to get to work. The others in the family (school and journalism) have no carpool trouble.

So, is there a Monte Vista reason why there's no carpool for my Mad Scientist?

Also, I tried taking the car home so that the carpool could bring him home, but that didn't work either. He had to "call" the car from home to get home.

I finally got it to work, but it was by doing something that I never had tried before to fix a problem. Usually I use things like exiting without saving, removing cache files, resetsim and the like. But for another reason I did something I had never done before: changed the active family, and then changed it back. Now he's going to work properly.

But I did find out something in the process: everything in the refrigerator resets to what is usually in a new refrigerator. Their hundreds of perfect fruits and vegetables and meat/eggs/cheese were suddenly gone. And all the tofu, links and roasts from omniplant production. Fortunately I had saved a perfect fruit/vegetable of every kind in a chest (all of which were safe, fortunately.) Unfortunately, I hadn't save perfect meats/eggs/cheese so my poor gardeners suddenly have to have a humongous garden which everyone in the family is taking care of to get the stock up. And the teenage daughter (who wants to be a scientist anyway) is fishing for tuna (their favorite sushi) a lot. (They've almost got enough tuna to last them quite a while, which is a good thing because she's got 9 1/2 skill points for her fishing and I've got other things I want her to skill up on.)

Thanks - good information. Especially as I often change active households. I will be sure to save a copy of anything important in a chest (if I can figure out what chest/where to get it) - would it also work in their backpaks?

That's interesting. I have a household with 3 plumbots who don't get any carpool and aren't pushed to go to work. I just get a notification 15 before and have to send them manually. Maybe I'll try your fix, after saving everything in the fridge to one of the storage lockers I have.

Did you switch for just a few minutes, or did you play the other family long enough for him to go to work as an inactive?

One of our mods, namely NRaas StoryProgression, stops the messing up of the contents of sims' refrigerators upon switching active households even without Rotational Play and extensive caste fiddling. It also stops new households from receiving all those free groceries whenever they setup house for the first time, though some players miss that until they get used it not being there. :)

I always switch households and they never have fridge contents wiped out each time I switch families though their prepared food is often bad when I return to playing that family and I just give them the slob trait with Master Controller so they won't get sick from eating spoiled food if the didn't already have that trait.I never get carpools because I've got a Mod that disables them and found them annoying in some cases. One family in Oak Leaf walks to work because the live right near the graveyard and work there.Another family there walks to Garden Market because the work at the spa there. My other family rides bikes to work at Garden Market where the work in the grocery store.
