Installing Sims 4 from Origin

Ok, this thread is originally from the Sims 3 Mac forum, but it still has some really useful tips that you might try when installing Sims 4. Please ignore some of the Sims 3 stuff, but it might provide some clues as to why some of you are having problems downloading and installing from Origin as well as some solutions.
