Dark grey drawstring pants, black t-shirt, with a heavyweight rust/russet micro-tartan L.L. Bean buttondown shirt worn open, over it, because it was chilly this morning in the house, and dark brown corduroy house loafers/slippers.

    I know, nothing that exciting.

If friendship/platonic kinda love counts, then when my so called best friend in kindergarten abandoned me for another girl. LOL. I was so upset I didn't wanna go to school the next day. My mom told me that I go to school to learn not make friends. And ever since then, I didn't wanna make friends no more or be attached to people.

Oh DeKay, I am so sorry this happened to you. I would have wished to have told your child-self, instead, that it's understandable to be devastated, and that your feelings of hurt and betrayal were valid. And of course school was the only place you could make friends, so your friendships there were very important indeed. You would be at school only to learn and not to make friends, only if you had been a robot rather than a human child. ETA: I'm sure your mother had only the best of intentions, as parents usually do, and probably only meant to help you minimize the impact in your own mind, rather than teach you that you couldn't afford to trust or make friends in school. :( Sometimes a well-intentioned "buck up" speech can come across as "try not to feel anything", without the speaker realizing it.

Who have you had a deep and meaningful in-person conversation with, most recently?

Thank you. And haha, Asian parents be like that sometimes. 😂 But my mom has always been very strict and overprotective. She won't let me hang out with my classmates after school or something to go to the mall. So I always just spent my time at home doing homework or listening to music or drawing. That's how I always get top in class and become so good at those things. 😂
This seems incredible, but I can't remember ever being given advice growing up. My father almost never spoke directly to me and was out of my life very early on. My mother was too busy trying to make ends meet. My grandmother once surprised me by speaking to me directly (something she almost never did either) to corner me about whether I had any interest in relationships, and I could tell her tone was disapproving in case I did. I told her no, she seemed relieved, and that was the end of it. I figured what she didn't know about me, couldn't hurt her.

What do you have in common with a relative?

Um, I have no idea. 😂 I'm not very close to my relatives.

Do you like to attend weddings?

    Yes! Love it 💙

    Are you a shy person?
  • SweetieWright_84SweetieWright_84 Posts: 4,036 Member
Not shy but also not super outgoing. The more I get to know someone, the more talkative I am but I'm very guarded when I first meet someone.

    What motivates you? (Generally speaking)

Not a lot these days, seems like.
But I'll still go from zero to sixty in under four in response to someone being mistreated in front of me.

How do you celebrate your birthday?

I don't. Except when I am with my parents. If they buy a cake I'll take a bite or two.

    Do you like big parties?

Not at all. Being an introvert, they just drain the energy right out of me. If you were to see me at a party, I'm likely going to be the one lurking in the quietest area of the place.

What's an otherwise normal fact that you still find a little strange?

Have you read a novel by Jane Austen lately? If so, which one?
  • ignominiusrexignominiusrex Posts: 2,680 Member
No, I could never get myself to stay interested in Jane Austen, despite hearing she's such a great author, but I get so bored with too many relationships to focus on, and lose track and interest. i just want something besides relationships as a reason for a book.

Am I wrong about Jane Austen? did I give up too soon?

    I don't know. I don't like to read.

Do you prefer fiction to non-fiction books?

Absolutely yes. I struggle to stay focused on factual books unless they are about something I'm really interested in, whereas if a fiction book has an interesting/ unusual concept and equally interesting/ unusual characters then I'll be hooked. There has to be some humour too. I'm quite fussy when it comes to picking stories though.

What genres do you like to read/ watch?
  • KendranaKendrana Posts: 3,823 Member
Though I'm not a huge book reader, the genres I like the most are fantasy and mystery. My favorites are The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and a number of the titles in the Nancy Drew Mystery Story series.

For television I also like certain comedies, especially some of the old ones that are (or were originally) in black and white.

    Same question.
  • SweetieWright_84SweetieWright_84 Posts: 4,036 Member
I'm not much of a reader either but I also enjoy a good mystery. I loved the first two books in the Irene Kelley series by Jan Burke (I think that'sthe author's name). I also liked the Chronicles of Narnia. Another book I enjoyed was "Cinder" but I can't remember the author. It was a futuristic and apocalyptic take on Cinderella.

As far as movies and TV, I gravitate toward comedy. Although, I don't really watch a lot of TV or movies. I mostly watch YouTube and play Sims.

What is the worst movie you've ever watched?

Home Alone 4. Even though most of the characters from the first two films have returned, it's a complete recast and the story does not fit in with the timeline of either - complete with a terrible script and below-average performances.

Do you have any family members who seem to resemble a celebrity? If so, who?

probably but I would have no idea who. I don't know much about celebrities.
And I just realized if I were to look it up and find out which celebs shared my birthday, and told that, then everyone would know my birth date and wouldn't that be against forum guidelines?

And now for something Completely Different:

Do you think that's fascinating or horrifying?

You don't have to tell the birth year. Just the day is fine, I believe.

I don't know how to feel about that video. I think it looks kinda funny. So neither fascinating nor horrifying.

What is your perfect day like?

It'd probably start with me waking up about 9 am after sleeping well the night before and then having a couple of hours to get ready, eat and listen to some music. Around lunchtime, I'll go shopping and probably buy some dresses and skirts, and then to a few second-hand shops and buy some cheap games that look interesting, and probably get lunch from McDonald's or something while I'm out. I'll get home about 3-4 pm and then go on a train to a concert (could be Demi Lovato, Sabrina Carpenter, Avril Lavigne, Olivia Rodrigo, or Hey Monday, for a few examples) for the evening. I'll then either stay at a hotel after or get the train home and hopefully be in bed for 10-11 pm.

Of course, all of this is hypothetical, I barely leave the house most days.

    Same question

Our house is pretty laid back in general so I don't really know what I would describe as the perfect day. I'm happy with my life as it is, chaos and all.

Hopefully getting a crapton of work done around the house, did most of the early-season yardwork already. Grilling if it's nice. And maybe some canoodling :)

Making Javascript scripts on Photoshop. 🤣 I'm literally trying to do it now but it's so hard, especially when I can't find much info on the specific thing I wanna do.
