The ending (or nearing the ending) in the movie The Others. It's a horror/supernatural thriller type of movie.
So basically, the whole movie is about this lady and her children who live in this old house and she feels like there's ghosts in it. Sometimes her children talk to these children ghosts too while the lady tries to discourage them. Eventually in the end, we find out that the lady and her children were actually the ghosts in the house. Mindblown.
So the movie is about a Mist that has inter-dimensional monsters coming through and picking off people in this small town. Towards the end, the remaining survivors escape the grocery store and head out hoping to find safety, but as the mist continues to grow it looks helpless.
So David (the protagonist) convinces them that it's better to die here than be eaten/killed by the creatures in the Mist, so he shoots them, as well as his wife and young son, then tries to shoot himself, but there are no more bullets. So he decides to let the creatures take him....you see something coming through the Mist and it turns out to be the military driving back the monsters. Had David waited literally just a few minutes they would have all survived. His devastation of that realization is soul crushing.
Sticking to this topic....What's a scary movie scene that made you go "Oh heck no!"
I can't really say, because I so seldom watch movies that I don't even know what this 'simpler 2000's style' is, though I will say it doesn't surprise me if movies were really simplistic in the aughts, because it just seemed like EVERYTHING got stoopid there for a while. It was almost as if intelligence went out of style. I was afraid it would never come back. Not sure if it has, but something has improved, I think.
Have you ever lain on your back outdoors and stargazed?

Tuba, particularly the lower register of the bass. You can create quite a cool, otherworldly sound effect if you can master changing one long note from quiet tempo to loud (there's a fancier name for this but I can't remember what it's called). The lower notes can also add some quite dramatic harmonies to a peace of music. It's quite surprising the amount of different ways a tuba can be used. I've played arrangements of just long notes all the way through (sometimes this is quite fun to just be able to give a long, loud boom while the rest are doing the tune), and others of really fast semi-quaver rhythms (which are flippin' hard!).
I used to really enjoy playing an arrangement in one of my bands, called The Gaol (sorry, can't remember the composer). We only had a simple arrangement, but the little bits of tune we had in that sounded really effective with the rest. Fun times.
Hope I haven't waffled too much. 😁
That's an interesting question so same again please.

Nope regarding the stargazing. There's not that many stars here in Singapore sadly.

I don't have a favorite nostalgic song. Something must be wrong with me that I almost never feel nostalgic. Oh wait, I know why. The past rots.
