I made a post like this a few days ago:) some people seem to get angry about it. I was just trying to help to let people see TS3 wasn't that great as well. I don't know I guess your right about having a selective memory

I think the main point here though is not that TS3 wasn't all that great but that EA/Maxis didn't learn and listen and seems it seems like it has started all over with Sims 4. I think they already have several game pack and expansion packs planned and if those included the return of toddlers I seriously think they would announce that. If they were really concerned about the game direction and future sales I think they would announce the return of toddlers. Even if it wasn't going to happen until a few expansion packs down the road.

As much drama surrounds simmers and the forum...I kinda like it.

I'll enjoy the threads where a lot of people start warming up to the game more including myself.
Those threads will be way more enjoyable! =3

Wow! You really done your homework on this one lol! I remember clearly the hate for TS3. I didn't even really like TS3 at the beginning. I am actually enjoying TS4's basegame more than I did with TS3's. It wasn't until nearer the end of its production did it start becoming incredibly fun and interesting. There was no way you could become bored with so much to do! The forums became a better place towards the end because it became such a great game.

Bearing in mind, sometimes you don't realise how much you miss something until it's gone which is probably why TS3 now looks so golden and who can blame them? It can be difficult not to compare the two as you can see in your links when TS3 was constantly compared to TS2.

I'm sure TS4 forums will be like the TS3 one. where once the expansion packs came out lots of people changed their minds and liked the game.

I didn't go through all of those but I can imagine.

I think that the devs listened to users for years and tried to answer the complaints. The problem is that we didn't necessarily like their answers. Or more appropriately some liked the answer and some didn't thus the battle rages on.

Complaints about lag, freezing, and long load times = closed world
Empty lots = The Trudgers, randomly generated sims whose only function is to fill up a lot
Limited rotational play = closed world, no story progression
Burrito babies = babies have legs but are actually furniture
Limited toddler transactions = no toddlers (That'll teach us to complain!)
Robotic sims = emotions (robots can't take an angry poop)
Careers that progress without effort on the part of the user = promotion requirements (love this one!)
Too easy to become rich = more aggressive bills (also love this)

I guess I was the opposite. The more they offered, the more it became apparent that there was always that something missing in 3. (for me anyways) I regretted buying everything I did from the store because it never helped the game in ways I was thinking it might.

I feel that that something is back with this game and these sims.

I enjoyed TS3 went right from TS1 to TS3 and I did experience crashing but that was my computers fault and bad cc it's really not that bad of a game i never saw my Sims as robotic either.. I don't get the constant need to bash it to make Sims 4 look good.

I don't think anyone on this thread is "bashing 3." They are simply stating what they like about 4 in comparison to what they didn't like about 3.
It's really the same argument from those who do not like 4, just flipped.

I definitely think this game has filled that void 3 had given me. What that void was I'm not entirely sure, but 4 definitely appeals to me more. I'm glad I wasn't around in 3's forums it looks like it was a mess.

I kind of wished they never made TS3 or TS4 and just added on to TS2. It would be the most amazing game ever if it had open world the graphics were up graded to how they look in TS4.

Finding 20 complaints about TS3 won't change that.

I'm also pretty sure that most people complaining about TS4 wouldn't call TS3 a perfect game.

As a matter of fact, I'm sure you can find people that say TS3 was a bad game but TS4 makes it look good by comparison.

Muffin, I honestly don't think anyone has forgotten (or will ever forget) that epic debate between TS3, It's what started the division between many simmers (well unless you were new to the sims back then.) I remember those days quiet clear, and yes, it was bad i'll admit that. However if you notice? Or have noticed, many veteran simmers are raging because it feels as if we're going down the exact same path that TS3 had started. Trust me it was bad back then, but it feels this go around...soo much worst...like beyond worst. And from that very perspective it feels like every new game since TS3 we end up losing something we really like and simply have to pray that it makes a return. Or as many TS2 players did, continue playing TS2 or TS1.
