How do I play this game?

I find the sims to be very weird. Especially then cooking they won't clean up the dishes even after I tell them to do so. They are so dumb when reading books, they practically don't read them, I dunno. They are so slow, the clicking on the needs to auto solve doesn't work either. I dunno, everything else seems good, just it gets so annoying at times. I guess I need to learn to play this or something.
