Can you move files from/to the Mods folder while the game is running?

Because I usually forget to add the mods I just downloaded to the Mods folder and always remember only after I open The Sims 4. So, is it possible or does the game crashes or something? And if it's ok to do so, do you have to close and re-open the game to confirm the new mods added to the folder?

I think the mods are loaded just moments after you launch the game, so adding new ones to the Mods folder shouldn't affect your current session in any way until you close and reopen the game.
