Education is a big part of what nonprofits do. And nonprofits partner with many educational organizations. I have multiple school programs serve as feeders for our volunteer program. The students are great! Our staff love working with them. Glad it was useful. I was hoping it wasn't too much information and I didn't spam your thread.
I had so many thoughts that I didn't want to clog your WordPress.
While I'm not aromantic or ace, I do like and can appreciate a nontraditional legacy.
Who says a legacy has to have a marriage? I liked that about your Whisper story. I feel like Ts3 is better set up for non-heteronormative relationships for some reason. I've struggled time and time again to introduce diverse types of relationships in TS4 but since I like to co-author with the game, it's never natural. Whereas in Ts3, I thought it came up more often. I didn't need to force them.
My whole plan for my Simself's legacy derailed. Haha. I took my time with Liz, and I'm doing the same with Parker. I know I'm not that far into CMC yet, Parker's story, but mild spoilers... while there is some romance, I'm actually really really happy with the emphasis on friendship in the story/game. It's definitely not "normal" legacy material. I don't want to say too much more because spoilers, but it is not find-a-partner-start-having-kids-kind-of story. Not that I don't enjoy those stories too at times and I do sometimes comment on attractiveness. (I did with Alex in this chapter).
I can respect this kind of route you're taking with Case. I may not feel the same way he does, but I do like reading about his experiences. Or at least I can say I respect his choices. If a movie or story is going to include romance, I do prefer romance and marriage built on strong friendship, the slow believable build to love of any kind, and the importance of deep, strong friendship in general. I like stories that feature strong friendships because it's so essential to a healthy and thriving life.
I know this is long-winded and roundabout, but I'm really enjoying Case's journey and your story.
Hi, Lizzie! Thanks so much for sharing these thoughts!
For me, TS4 has been a lot more friendly for aromantic and/or asexual characters. With TS3, nearly all my characters were always getting into romances, random flirts, asked on dates, and into extra-marital affairs. In TS4, really not so much.
I am such a romantic by nature that I always hope for the big romance with TS4, but, surprisingly, I have a lot of aromantic characters.
I wouldn't so much say that I am taking this particular route with Case, but that this is the route that he is, clearly, taking, and so I'm writing his story, without forcing him to be untrue to himself.
Like you, I co-author with the game.... or rather, the game is the author, and I'm the interpreter.
To me, it's so rich that the game unfolds differently for individual game players. So many of us are taking this route, of letting our Sims and the game determine the route, and it comes out so different for each, giving us each unique themes to explore.
I clearly didn't set out to have Case be autistic, either, yet he so definitely is. It is a delight for me to see how he manages his processing of social communication, interactions, sensory input, and executive functioning demands. Like me, he gets his biggest dopamine rushes from his special interest. His is researching plants. He'll talk and interact for a little bit, and then, it's off to the garden!
Because he's so good at managing himself, his fun bar has never really fallen into the yellow. I can learn from him!

I agree! It's so fun! Our takes are similar and yet individual.

Good to see this @CathyTea ... I know you said you're busy right now and will have free time later...but I missed reading up on Case.
