Erm.
How do I start a new post? I can only seem to leave comments on some existing Discussion, like this one.
Hello @Kharky Welcome to the forums!
There is usually a blue new discussion button at the top right hand side of the screen in the forum sections. But new discussion threads have been restricted for new members. You are unable to start a new thread until you become a full member. This has been brought in as a result of spambots.
You need to have 50 points and 30 posts before you can become a full member and can then post pictures, have a signature, start new threads, edit posts , post links that show up correctly and change your profile picture. This thread explains about it. http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/770609/member-or-new-member-everything-you-need-to-know
You receive a point each time another simmer presses like or awesome or insightful on a post that you have posted. Keep posting on the different threads and sections of the forums and you will soon get the points/posts. The off topic section is a good place to post.
You will soon get the required points and posts if you also post about your simming experiences on threads that you are interested in the thread topics.
this is 🐸🐸🐸🐸 i cant even create a new forum for 1 question. and i cant "point farm" whatever that is cause i dont know what gives points cause there is no info unless i want to read a entire 5k word essay. no thank you. i just want to ask 1 forum question. not have my life revolve around trying to get points to be able to create a new forum post discussion.

@rosemow still taking care of everyone I see Rose You're such a sweetheart and I know everyone appreciates everything you do for every newbie and for everyone who just needs the occasional support!
Still is sad that, because of people abusing the forum, new players have problems to create a new discussion about a question about the game... or how I said before, hey will write in unrelated threats to get the 30 posts (like what I'm doing now XD)
Omaiga!! I've been a member since 2012. Wasn't interested in forums then until now. Cus I'm wondering why the heck sims 4 cats and dogs says it available today on my main menu but nada. Whaaaa D':

In order to be able to posts pictures and have an avatar, you first need to become a full member because as of right now you are considered a new member. New members are restricted to post pictures, links, have an avatar or change one, sending private messages to other members. In order to become a full member, you will need to have 50 points, 30 posts and an account older than 24 hours.
This link here will explain all you need to know on what it takes to become a full member. It also has a full list of badges that you can earn and how many points you get with those badges... http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/770609/member-or-new-member-everything-you-need-to-know/p1
Plus new members are unable to start new threads even if you could before. This was brought on by last years spambot attacks that took over the forums.
For any New members who what to get their post/point count up, the best thing that I would advise you to do is to find threads that may interest you and join in on them or go to the Off Topic section and join in on some of the word/story games over there. The posts made over in the forum section will go towards your post count whereas the posts made on your wall and the Activity Feed doesn't go towards the total post count. The only thing that you will get if you should make any post over on your wall or Activity Feed will be any Insightfuls, Likes or Awesomes as they will go towards your total points count. Hopefully creating your posts on other threads will also increase your points...
@Petalsim, yes, it's because you are a "New Member". Once you become a full member, then it will become clickable to you... But the person that you mentioned will still get the notification that they were mentioned provided that the notification system works properly for them since some of the members haven't been getting notified of their mentions.

Hello @Kharky
It would be best to post about your issue on this thread for Sims 3 game issues where simmers who are new members are able to post , as they can't start new threads,

Depending on if you are playing Sims 3 or Sims 4, you can post about game issues on a similar thread in either the Sims 3 Bugs and Issues section
http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/categories/bugs-issues
Or the Sims 4 Bugs and Issues section
http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/categories/the-sims-4-bugs-issues
Because you are unable to start a new thread because you are a new member, you are also, welcome to post in these threads.

Sims 4 issues

If it isn’t a game issue, you can post your question on another section of the forums, on a thread that another simmer has already started.
