Endless Loading Screen Upon Returning From a Travel World

My main save game has an issue with traveling. Getting there works just fine, and the vacation worlds don't lag at all. I thought that I had a perfect virtual vacation to China until it came time for them to return home. They got to the loading screen, and it hanged. It hung for an hour before I called it quits.

I decided to try a few different scenarios:

- Going back to a pre-travel save and having them travel to China again, and then return. Still got hung up on the loading screen.
- Going to the same pre-travel save and having them travel to Egypt instead. Still got hung up on the loading screen.
- Starting a new game with a new family and having them travel to China. Getting home worked fine.

Any other suggestions? I don't want to have to start over on this file, but I really want to travel as well.

Update: I decided to move my save to a clean Sims 3 folder, without any CC. Still couldn't return home.
