Thank you so much @rosemow! I've tried to replicate the mirror room as well, but I so wish there were bigger paintings in game, or murals. All that gold and splendour..
@auroraskies omg Versailles :O That must be 1) a huge project 2) not easy and 3) I guess a lot of fun though. You are doing great so far! Can't wait to see that one finished!
I am now about 3 apartments away from finishing my apartment building (housing 12 apartments x.X) Today I finished this one:
The theme was actually set by me bumping into this SIMS painting, which reminded me of 'Mondriaan', an artist I used as inspiration for our real life kitchen area
1. Yes! The biggest thing I have built, so far, at least. 2. Well, it is, since I give myself lots of artistic leeway and only use it as inspiration. I do wish we had those murals of gilded naked people and angels though.. 3. Certainly is! The lot is perfect for a castle and a city congregation spot, the light fantastic, and I'm looking forward to all the civic weddings, museum visits and political intrigues that is to take place there once it's done - so, let's meet again say in a year.
Your apartment looks great! @DeanXeL Very nice blue, red, yellow and white colours to reflect the picture. The design of the areas and the furnishings are very nice! The large glass windows living area is a very nice light filled area for sims to enjoy watching tv and using the computer. The dining table nook is great! The kitchen design is very nice! The black marble flooring gives a great look to the area!
@DeanXeL , thank you, that is very kind of you then! Sadly my sims don´t have any super powers, and Nelly, the youngest one often need to stretch, cause the telescope I use, is not made for children (and I can tell you, that she then looks very odd). So indeed hanging the cabinets to a more convenient height is a very good solution instead of let Sims drink grow-potions...
@Auroraskies , this palace is wonderful! Only it doesn´t remind me to Versailles but much more to palaces from the very early baroque, and a lot of details, especially the one at the court facade here, look very rennaissance-ish. In fact, the whole building looks very German or Austrian like to me... Nonetheless I love all the details of the facade, and how you placed the building towards the terraces in the back.
Also, if you don´t mind me saying that, I would make one roof out of the three, so that the main wing and the side wings would come closer together. But that is a humble critics towards a really wonderful build, and I am curious, how this will come out after finishing!
I myself also have something new, again a house for my StrangerVille extension, and this time it´s a house with a really cool "Landgraab backstory". The builder was a German immigrant, who left Germany after his parents made him an outcast cause of him loving a young woman from a poor family. So they both fled to America, where they then became farmers, the whole story can be read here:
Today this house serves as a small office in the historic West side district of Carson City NV, a cute Victorian home, that in my eyes look, as if it were built for a mage... Have a look:
I wasn´t able to copy it, and not only cause it is very much hidden behind a green wall nowadays. But I tried to stay near to the original, at least I tried to catch the vibe. I hope, it does... The attic is fully functional, but I could not include the small balcony, no chance with the roofing system of TS4. And of course there is still a lot to do, before this house will be finished:
A lot of problems came up with this mage helmet, and one was the integration of the porch to the corner here. Those things can be really quirky, as the roofing system still is very buggy. Those round roofs don´t like to work with rooms, that cut their edges: Then they will show up on the inside. Luckily here it is a bathroom, that is partly covered by the helmet, and I could hide that under a bathtub...
@eufl Thank you! Yes, part of the inspirational misch masch is the many castles, now city halls, here in scandinavia; and the open yard is for demonstrations and congregations. As many castles are, Versailles was built upon during a long time period, and the three parts of my sim-castle is meant to reflect that, with slight changes in execution each time a stone is added; so the divided roofs are intentional and will be kept as is. It is not meant to be a replica, but to be a play house for the dolls.
Oh, thank you! That made me happy. I have seen so many large fantastically well decorated buildings on the gallery, and wanted to try doing it myself. It's not done yet, and I think I've spent at least a couple of days, real time, on it.
Your Fire Station Nightclub WIP is looking very great! @luckyheather Very nice exterior design! The roof covered area with the fire truck looks great! Very nice brown brick walls of the other section and the tower is very nice. The helicopter pad is great!
