The game doesn't have to be ultra realistic to be a life simulator. How much fun would that be? You just need the basics of life in a fun and enjoyable way. Actually there have been quite a few diseases in past games, they just didn't really use them in 3, unless you count a cold. They had Guinea pig disease, Montezuma's revenge, nervous breakdowns, the flu. Maybe not at all realistic, but they were there. We also had disasters, though not natural ones like i'm pretty sure your thinking. But being crushed with a meteor or satellite, or even fire is a disaster. Religion would be to hard to implement in the game, after all they would have to cover EVERY religion if they were to do so. So no it is not a total realistic life simulator, but that's what makes it a game.

I like blend of having ordinary Sims, rich Sims, poor Sims and next door an alien family while down the road there is a Sim who just got from Egypt and met a Mummy while in another house you have a policeman married to a theif and in another house a Sim who works as doctor but also builds robots. The possibilities in the past 3 games are endless and some of that could even be in the base game

Well that's kind of my point. You can't exactly call it REAL, as it's not very representative of reality. It's a game.
Kudos with limited choices probably represented the struggles of life better than The Sims. But I never actually expected, nor wanted serious from The Sims.

I would like some choice on the market though of varying degree of seriousness. Monopolies are not very healthy.

I agree, endless possibilities. That is what a simulation game should be. You should be able to simulate life anyway you see fit. Play god if you will. There should never be restraints on how you can play.

What you're describing right now is sandbox and not necessarily simulation. Most simulation games have a strict campaign.

When I said real I didn't mean real life, but a real simulation game. I can see how you might have confused the two though. No I don't want super realistic, boring. I already have that in my real life, I certainly don't need it in my game. ;)

I agree monopolies are bad. It gives us limited choices, and then there is the take it or leave it cause its the only one out there mentality companies can get. I don't think EA expected so many to leave it, after all it is a unique game. What they didn't count on is that they were actually competing with themselves, and lost.

Sims has always been a combination of sandbox life simulation, but I do see your point. I should have said that's the way a Sims game should be, instead of a general simulation.

That's what I have done the past five years. I created 12 Simselves and numbers of my family members and friends, recreated TS2 and even TS1 Sims and more of their families, some Sims based on films, some based on stories I am writing and many over new Sims have come along in the mean time.

The 'God' aspect is almost like The Sims is the real world and someone had to be the creator and that person was me lol

Also I feel like I have a connection with my Sims as I created them, their houses and their world so a lot of that has a lot of my personality in it and that's what makes the 'life simulator'

just wanted to add that punching bag was indeed in a former game. It was a reward in sims 2. As far as sims goes, sims 2 is THE best game of all time in my humble opinion. As far as sims 4 premium services goes, I am glad they didn't go that way. And frankly I have no intention to get the game pack until they give us TODDLERS. My daughter likes the game, although she much prefers sims 3 and I prefer sims 2. They should have used the game pack time to give us toddlers. Until they do, it isn't a complete base game. My opinion.

I had a feeling I had seen the punch bag before but being a reward in TS2 I might have only seen it once or twice. So even that is not a new object?

I myself prefer TS3 but Ts2 will always be an excellent game

I'm also hoping that Maxis decides to no takes the Premium Service route. Honestly, after the full TS3 Store experience, I'm really hoping that in addition to Expansion and Stuff Packs they stick with only releasing Game Packs in Origin.
