If they get enough people to buy their first Game pack, then be assured we'll be getting new game packs really often...and they might get more expensive. The Sims is still EA's cash cow after all...
Well then let s hope enough people buy it.
Let's hope not enough people buy it so it will open their eyes...
Many people will - including me, because the camping thing looks sweet. It would give my outdoorsy sims something to do.
Many people will not - including me, because they are fed up with EA's shenanigans and would have much rather have an expansion instead.
But EA is not the one who makes the games, Maxis does.

People like Maxis more than EA.
EA Maxis is a subsidiary of Electronic Arts (EA), serving as one of its four major video game development labels. The company was originally founded in 1987 as Maxis Software, an American independent video game development company, and later simply became known as Maxis.
Currently, EA develops and publishes games under several labels including EA Sports titles Madden NFL, FIFA, NHL, NCAA Football, NBA Live, and SSX. Other EA labels produce established franchises such as Battlefield, Need for Speed, The Sims, Medal of Honor, Command & Conquer, as well as newer franchises such as Dead Space, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Army of Two, Titanfall and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, produced in partnership with LucasArts.[4] EA also owns and operates major gaming studios, EA Tiburon in Orlando, EA Canada in Burnaby, BioWare in Edmonton as well as Montreal, and DICE in Sweden.[5]
I think that this is going to be an interesting DLC since this is new and never been in any other sims games, the ability to go camping and be outdoors. I am pleased with The Sims 4 because they gave us 3 months worth of updates October - December without charging or including it in a stuff pack/EP/Game pack. They included ghosts, pools, basic careers, PTO, family leave, etc including game play/bugs fixes. With the sims 3, we only got updates with eps.
Actually not new, not new at all. You could go camping in Sims 2 Bon Voyage. Campground, cabins, and lodges. The only difference is in Sims 2 we had Big Foot....In 4 you have a bear that looks like he escaped from a childrens show on PBS.
Yet somehow just as terrifying.. lol
The 'premium' business model was done with Battlefield. I'm not sure it's the best thing to be doing but eh, not my problem I guess.

well having in mind that the list of features lists a bear costume I think that it does indeed look decent for a costume.

That's even worse, couldn't even put in a real bear. Cartoony or not. So I take it back Sims 2 had Big Foot, 4 has....nothing

4 has ghosts. And no special sims announced currently, or present in this game pack doesn't mean no supernaturals ever. For all we know they're planning another Supernatural expansion and would rather not have pointless copies of special sims.

Yes 4 has ghosts, so long as you are around when the person dies or...nope nothing for you. Past games have had ghosts, and cemeteries. I'm sure there will be supernaturals, after all they can just make another copy of a young adult sim, throw some fangs or fur on them, and call it a day. No special attention or animations needed, after all they have done this a few times before. Copy/paste...and pat themselves on the back for a job well done. It is those "pointless copies" of special sims, that make the game more interesting and fun. The ones you can only meet under certain circumstances, the ones not running around in every town. The fact is everything done has been a copy of what was done before, and a hurried copy at that. Nothing to set it apart from the rest. Absolutely nothing.

true with any sims game starting from the second. There are going to be rehashes. Because in this franchise there always is. Sims 2 had it. Sims 3 had it.

Sure there will be some. Isn't the idea of a new game to mix the old...with some fine adjustments, and new to give you a reason to want it? Why go to another game if it offers absolutely nothing new, and also takes away some aspects of the game? There is no reason, so far this game offers nothing. It just copies what was done before and throws a new title on it. Nothing in this game is new.

You can do that in Sims 1, Sims 2 with Bon Voyage, Sims 3 with World Adventures. Nothing new.
Improved graphics? Man that looks like 🐸🐸🐸🐸 lol.
Yet the gameplay blows 4 completely out of the water. I will take good gameplay over graphics anyday!

The only thing that I have seen that's new is a new cupcake machine that is a strangely huge object and a punch bag. Other than that it has less than the past games. Not even the good friendly newspaper couldn't be included!

I need aks again, why the heck are the objects so ridiculously big* in this game? It's like baby toys.

Well it's a monopoly. And as long as it is their monopoly, why should they step up? If you want life simulation, where else will you go?
And the funny thing is, it's worse in other genres. Repetitive copies of same FPS again and again. How do you force players to buy them? Shut down the service for the old. As simple as that.
That being said, I find The Sims 4 charming and more down to the roots of The Sims 2. I'm glad to be enjoying a sims game again, however if I needed to make a review, I couldn't recommend it under its original price. I'm happy that the team this time around seems to listen to the players and make changes that players ask for. It's more than what they've done for a long time.
A premium membership is not the way to go. EA is already on shaky ground with their sims fan base. It would not bode well and only continue to add more fuel to the fire. It is a good thing if they have decided to abandon this.

When I want a REAL life simulation game, I play Sims 2 and 3. If you want life simulation, 4 is not the place to find it. Until they figure out how to uninstall the game from my computer, I don't have to worry about them shutting down service. They can stop making things yes, but that doesn't change the fact I already own what I have, and the modding community is there with a bunch of stuff for both games, if I ever find I want something new. So there is no way to force anyone to buy this, as they have discovered. Everyday I read about people going back to the older games. Thankfully I never bought this thing, I never left the past games, nor do I have any intention too.
Glad your enjoying it. I hope you can continue to do so. Yes they have made some changes, but I really don't believe for a second that they would be active here and making changes if the game was received well. It wasn't, they want sales, it is nothing more then that. The reason for not doing so before is simple, they didn't have too.

well that depends on how long can you run those games (as newer systems come out, there's no guarantee that old games will be compatible), if you have them on a disc how long will the discs last and if you have them digitally, how long will the service last.
Easier to shut down an online game though. And I am still running The Sims 2 (can emulate Sims 1), however there's no guarantee that Sims 2 will still be compatible with Windows 10. Or a graphics card that I might upgrade to. Or anything else in the future.
And speaking about REAL life simulation, none of The Sims have ever aimed at being realistic. No life long conditions, no diseases, no demand-supply driven economy (all jobs are always open to you), no disasters, unrealistic career ladders (I started as a janitor and now I'm the head surgeon!), no real consequences for not getting adequate education, plenty of parts of life cut out (no religious traditions such as Hanukkah, no ability to grow farm animals, etc).

Oh i'm not worried about that. If I upgrade to a new computer, which wont happen anytime soon because I just did, and both games work fine I will just keep this one for playing the game. If I upgrade this computer and they no longer work, I always still have my old computer, with both installed as backup. So no worries there. I won't worry about years and years down the road, heck If I had to I could pick up a old thing at a pawn shop. My disks are as good as the day I got them I take care of the things I love.

You should see my Sims 3 tower, all my games stacked up on the floor by my PC where they belong and not in the box of regrets where my disappointed games have been sentenced to spend all eternity. How many copies of TS4 have been sentenced this way I wonder?

Indeed. Mine are all lined up on my favorite games shelf. 4 has no place on that shelf

If my computer could speak to me (which sometimes I think it does) and I told it I would get TS4 it would laugh at me and tell me its the funniest thing I ever said and would then ask me when I am going to play TS3 as my PC is ready for it. My PC knows TS3 well and is proud to be a PC that can handle it. No room for TS4 in my room.
The game doesn't have to be ultra realistic to be a life simulator. How much fun would that be? You just need the basics of life in a fun and enjoyable way. Actually there have been quite a few diseases in past games, they just didn't really use them in 3, unless you count a cold. They had Guinea pig disease, Montezuma's revenge, nervous breakdowns, the flu. Maybe not at all realistic, but they were there. We also had disasters, though not natural ones like i'm pretty sure your thinking. But being crushed with a meteor or satellite, or even fire is a disaster. Religion would be to hard to implement in the game, after all they would have to cover EVERY religion if they were to do so. So no it is not a total realistic life simulator, but that's what makes it a game.

I'm glad to be enjoying a sims game again, however if I needed to make a review, I couldn't recommend it under its original price. I'm happy that the team this time around seems to listen to the players and make changes that players ask for. It's more than what they've done for a long time.
If I upgrade to a new computer, which wont happen anytime soon because I just did, and both games work fine
