Hello, everybody! I'm hoping somebody here will be able to help me with an issue I've been having. I'm working on a sculpture garden, so using a lot of MOO outside. I saved the lot and tested in-game, everything works and looks good. I saved the lot to my library, and placed it (with MOO/testing cheats on) in build mode on a new game to "plot test" as I call it. Immediately I notice that only some of the objects I've precariously raised are now lowered. I've retried with all mods/cheats turned off (even though the lot itself uses no CC). Any ideas on what the issue could be? Is it possible that I've somehow overloaded the lot? I'd like to be able to upload this baby to the gallery but not without it being just as I'd like it before I do. In case it makes any difference, I haven't attempted to move it to a larger lot, just the original lot I built it in but in a new game. The lot is Optimist's Outlook in Newcrest.

@xKitalax you're not doing anything wrong. This has been an issue from the beginning. Objects placed in what the game considers an outdoor space do not remain elevated when the lot is placed from the Library/Gallery. In order to elevate objects, they must be placed within what the game considers a "room." You can use flat(s) to accomplish this, and there are a couple of floor tiles that are somewhat grass colored that you can use to try to make it look natural.

Another option which allows you to retain your terrain is to create a basement room beneath the area where you want to elevate objects. Place the objects within the basement room, add lighting, and elevate them up from within that room. There is currently a graphics glitch that can happen with that method though, in which the elevated objects take on a combination of room lighting and outdoor lighting. The glitch was introduced in a recent patch; prior to that, the objects always took on room lighting. You'll have to experiment to see if it works properly for you or not.

@BryonyRae thank you for your quick response! I haven't used a lot of MOO outdoors prior to this build, so I guess I haven't noticed. So, it's normal that some of it works and some does not? I have some objects outdoors that I'm able to get to stick and stay but others don't. Has there been any luck of people deleting the objects and trying to place them again?

@xKitalax With the way the game works right now, really, everything that is not raised over a flat/room should be dropping, so if anything is staying up despite not being placed that way, consider yourself lucky. I would actually like to take a look at your build when you share it, if you wouldn't mind providing a link. And no, I don't think deleting/re-placing will work, but you can certainly try it.

@BryonyRae, now that I look at it again, all of the objects that stayed in the air were also placed on fencing or in circling fencing (which I guess does count as a room). However, some of the items do fall even on fencing while others have not (I have a pic/link but EAs website isn't letting me post it). Maybe I can PM it to show you what I mean? I'll definitely post the build once I go back and reconfigure some things using the suggestions you gave. I hope I can save the integrity of what I want it to look like without having to start over.

If you just type your image link into a post, like "http://imgur.com/imaginarypic.jpg" I can post it for you.

I keep getting an error that I "have to be around for a little longer before can post links." I've tried several EASIER variations but I'll try this - replace the (DOT) with period and add the http

There is a bug where items drop on edges (of flats/foundation/etc.) oriented in a certain direction. That is probably what you're experiencing. We discussed it in detail on page 10.

And I just noticed that there is some weirdness with this thread now... My index post references page numbers that appear to be missing. I'm not sure if we've lost posts or if the post count/page got changed at some point, or what is going on. :p I will have to take a look and figure out what page the references need to be changed to. Scary thought if I have to do this with the Build Mode Feedback thread also! :o

I gotcha! At this point, I'm planning on revamping the lot from scratch, I'll just save the areas that work as rooms and transfer them onto the new lot. It's going to take a bit longer than I had wanted, but I have a feeling it may be my best build yet, it certainly feels like it has the most potential. I wanted to thank you again, @BryonyRae for helping me out  I'm really sorry something buggy is going on with the thread, I hope you manage to work it out without too much of a headache

Hey, @BryonyRae I hope all is well! I just wanted to let you know that I was finally able to finish the rebuild of that sculpture garden. It was sort of a blessing in disguise, as I think this one came out looking a lot better anyway. I wanted to thank you again, though, for your help and feedback! Without it, I would not have been able to complete this lot and I'm actually really happy with it despite my very strong desire to use terrain paints (I needed the lot to be one giant room, essentially). Anyway, thank you! I hope that with a little more practice, I can create even more with MOO "outdoors." Oh, and if you'd like to check out the lot, it's called "Simwell Sculpture Gardens" in the community.

    Hello @xKitalax :)
Simwell Sculpture Gardens looks very great! The design and layout of the build looks very nice! I will post a link to it for you, because you are unable to post links until you become a full member.

I originally reported this issue over on the BMF thread, but it really belongs here, as it's an effect that can only be created via use of bb.moveojbects on.

The issue is that objects below a certain size elevated from a basement room into the level above disappear when viewed from a level higher than ground level. Here are images to show what I mean.

    The basement room:

    View at ground level:
    elevprob2_zpsqrd4mz7v.jpg

View at the next level up:

If I eyedropper one of the objects and enlarge it (note that the objects were already enlarged twice to begin with), it then remains visible when viewing from higher levels.

From my testing, the height you choose to elevate the object to does not matter. The object type does not matter. Also, even if you choose a naturally large object, it will still be subject to the glitch unless you enlarge it at least one time.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create a two or more level high structure on a lot.
    2. Draw a basement room (location doesn't matter, but for visibility, should not be under the house/rooms you drew above ground).
    3. Turn on bb.moveobjects
    4. Select an object and place it within the basement room.
    5. Elevate it using CTRL+9 until it is at a height that will cause it to appear above ground (you can go up a level to check on the height).
    6. Change your view to ground level and observe that you can see the object.
    7. Change your view to a level above ground level and observe that you can no longer see the object.
    8. Go back to basement level and enlarge the object a couple more times by pressing SHIFT+] (only once is necessary for large objects - more for smaller objects).
    9. Change your view to ground level and observe that you can see the object.
    10. Change your view to a level above ground level and observe that you can still see the object.

Edit: Fun fact that I just discovered - the objects still appear in mirrors. :p

I can't believe you even discover things like this @BryonyRae :D Great thread here - I really love MOO, but sometimes it certainly causes some challenges for a builder :)

Haha, they discover me, it seems like @Miliksim. :D Thank you. MOO got off to a rocky start, but it has been improved a ton over time. I hope that in time, the index for this thread will be empty. :)
