About To Throw My Hands Up In The Air, I'm So Fed Up… It's A Patriarchy :O

Okay, I'm back. I've been doing fairly okay with the Legacy Challenge. Some of you may recall reading about the false start I had and then how my Founder's chosen wife aged up to Elder immediately after their wedding, on my fresh start. I'd managed to get myself in a tangle due to Succession Rules I'd chosen, since the child had to be blood-related. Well, I was able to resolve that dilemma. My Founder moved in the runner up for his bride, and she gave him three sons! I then had trouble getting the trait generator to work for me, but another player was kind enough to take the traits of my Sim parents and was able to generate a trait and his child aspiration for their first son. Even though it turned out to be an adult trait, so I couldn't place it at that time, I was thrilled to learn that he had the Exemplar Trait I'd chosen as my third Succession Rule. I started to blog about my Legacy, thinking things were bound to get better as I progressed.

Don't get too excited.

I moved in a "roommate", a YA Female, from the gallery, per the updated rules. My Gen. 2 heir, despite himself, managed to make her his sweetheart. They got married and quickly she managed to pop out two sons. I'm thinking, this is going to be just fine. But, since neither of their uncles qualified, I got a tad nervous. So, I had the couple try for baby again. She had just aged up to Adult, no worries. The house was now full, so I did what was logical. I made my heir's next younger brother move out. What did I get? Twins! Now, please, calm yourselves, this isn't great news. GIRLS. Neither qualify to be heir, or even an heiress. So, I once again, sent my now Elder Gen. 2 heir to try for baby. I played all afternoon, hoping for some good news. But, DRAT it ALL, the absolute last thing I needed was yet another GIRL. (For a time my game was ONLY generating baby boys. Now, I'm being overrun with girls.) HELP!

I'm starting to freak out about now. I could kick myself for not going after the third rule that allows for the potential heirs to "fight it out". I will have them try for baby again tomorrow. I went ahead and moved the eldest son into the same household that his uncle moved into, since he's yet a teen. But I really need the three remaining adults' income to keep this family afloat. I really don't wish to pare down the family too much more. My heir is 72 days old, so I'm not certain just how long he has. His father was 101 when he became an elder and lived to be 110. Something tells me my heir won't live as long. :(

If I don't get another son soon, and should he not have the desired exemplar trait, I'm afraid my Legacy is coput.

I am SO open to suggestions at this point. (And a little 'tea and sympathy' couldn't hurt. ;) ) Thank you.

Hello I am also playing the exemplar trait succession rule as well. If none of the sons inherit the trait on the rules it states to follow the first born rule. So if none of them get the trait you can always use the first born to be your next heir. Hope this helps. So sorry you have hand a rough start to your legacy challenge.

Wow, sounds rough, I hope things get better! I'm playing with the exemplar trait rule as well, and like @dougsbaby said, follow the first born rule :)

Thank you, I had quite forgotten that little clause! I was beginning to think I'd have to let this generation be the one that has 10 children. I'm suddenly having a bad feeling, however, that I moved out that potential heir in my frustration, to make room for yet another try. :open_mouth: We're not supposed to move them back in, once they've been moved out, either. I think it's an Epic Fail on my part. Oi! what an inglorious end. ::pouts::

Thank you all for your responses. I may just go lick my own wounds. (You would think this was my very first Legacy Challenge, too, sadly. I feel like a Dork.)
